What was "16 out of 17 last night"?

Missiles shot down?
I think so, but haven't seen a translation yet

We don't want to hear this but it's where things stand in the US. The quote from Greene is of course nonsense.
What kind of democracy is it when a potential incoming president can block the programme of legislation of the incumbent president, by holding his party in Congress to ransom, insisting on a spurious link between Ukraine aid and US border control?

Yes, it's quite incredible. They are so up themselves that they can't see outside their own egos and petty vendettas, and there are insufficient grown ups around to shut them up. Trump, Greene etc are the ones whose positions will result in more Ukrainian deaths 😡.

Trump being the unelected potential next president doing this. The same one who incited an insurrection at the Capitol Building. Because he couldn't handle losing the election.

Come to the conclusion that I care not what happens to the USA, I worry only that others may suffer because of its stupidity.

Unable to sort out their own gun problems, one state has just voted to allow teachers to carry firearms in schools, has not learnt from its own mistakes and is likely to re-elect Trump. Sadly when it all goes pop it will take the majority of the rest of the human race with it.

It's an astonishing state of affairs and quite demoralising to watch. I have American friends who are likewise upset at how their country 'operates', but somehow it's crept up on them over the years and they're not as outraged as they might be - it's kind of normal to them.

If Europe (UK included) hasn't got the message yet that it needs to stand on it's own feet (and organise and invest accordingly) then ...I don't know when it will.

For a nation with some of the best research and education establishments on the planet...it is indeed a basket case ☹️. Which State was that re the teachers?

Just reported on the BBC news - Iran has launched a drone/missile attack on Israel.

The drones are expected to arrive in Israel, around midnight UK time. No detail on what the targets are, or what the Israeli response will be.

To keep it on track, Iranian drones can’t be used to take out Ukrainian cities if Iran is sending them toward Israel, so in that sense (given Israel will just shoot pretty much all of these down quite comfortably) that’s a positive for Ukraine I guess?

This is being discussed on the Israel/Gaza thread but although one may think Ukraine and Israel are completely different issues, they are converging into a very dangerous situation for the world - MSM predicting today that Ukraine will lose the war to Russia and appeals by Eastern European Countries (and some voices in the UK) for more direct involvement from NATO - I’m in my 60s and I can’t remember a time in my whole life where the world was standing on the edge of a precipice. All it has needed was for several dictators to pursue a self- destructive agenda.

The impact of a full out Middle Eastern War on the war in Ukraine remains to be fully realised.

I don't know how to word this but... somehow it bothers me that US jets, UK jets and ship mounted US air defense systems are immediately used to help take down Iranian missiles and drones fired at Israel...but the same does not happen for Ukraine 🤔.

I'm not saying the US and UK should not have intervened to help Israel (that invited the attack by shelling Iranian leaders in Damascus a few days back)... but just my head and emotions spinning on what this reveals about Ukraine's place in the pecking order.
I'm happy to be corrected or helped out by different views 👍.
