Obviously there are a lot of votes for Gross, he’s definitely up there IMO. I also see some mentions for Gilmour.

I also see generally on the board lately constant mentions that the reason for our poor form for the last 6 months and downturn on last season’s performance, is injuries but also that we sold our centre midfield and are a lot weaker there than last season. So how can the two players who have played in CM for the majority of that time be our players of the season? I can’t square that off.

Gross obviously deseves a shout as he’s class - dependable, adaptable and contributes so many goals and assists but no way would I put Gilmour up there. Certainly not ahead of Joao Pedro, JPVH, Dunk, Mitoma, or Adingra when he and that position has generally been a weakness for us this season.

The centre midfield thing is used as a constant defence for De Zerbi for the last six months but if our centre midfield is actually that good that both are considered for POTS, can it be an excuse?
They're knackered from playing too many games, and it's had consequences for the team's form, and we're still short of the quality in midfield we had last season -- but they're universally recognized to have made a herculean effort all things considered?

You have some utterly bizarre dislike of Gilmour, which is just weird and a bit creepy. Even on threads about other players you come up with stuff about how bad you think he is any chance you get. Fine that’s your opinion but you don’t need to shoehorn it in to any discussion.

Gross can be good at the other aspects of the game but it doesn’t make him free from responsibility of how the midfield has done. I still think he and Gilmour have both been excellent, even if they aren’t overall strong enough together. There isn’t a reason to give Gross a pass though, and blame Gilmour.

Likewise it’s not just the fault of the CM that we have played badly or dropped points. It isn’t just down to CM despite what fans may think.

People can vote for who they like for Player of the Year and it’s not on you to tell them they are wrong.

Gross. Way too easy this year. Van Hecke and Hinshelwood closest but not close Joao Pedro very overrated so far decent season nothing more

In total agreement.
