I've heard Weller mix the lyrics up for Malice on more than one occasion, singing ...

To either cut down on gear or the kids new beer - instead of - To either cut down on beer or the kids new gear

He gave a sideways look to Craddock on one occasion and they both had a laugh :ROFLMAO:

How would they know his address?

I'm more worried about the Atheist nutter writing 'Jesus Saves'.
I quite like the smell of brown leather.

Saturday's Kids is another fabulous bit of ENGLISHNESS. Some of Weller's absolute finest work, IMO.

Saturday's girls work in Tesco's and Woolworths
Wear cheap perfume cause its all they can afford

Save up their money for a holiday
To Selsey Bill or Bracklesham Bay
Think about the future - when they'll settle down
Marry the girl next door - with one on the way

These are the real creatures that time has forgot

Not given a thought - its the system -
Hate the system - what's the system?

As a massive Jam fan, none of the choices given are my personal fave. Obviously they suffer from being overplayed.
All Mod Cons is the best album, so I’d go for either Fly or The Place I Love.

I notice the absence of 'Beat Surrender' on the poll. What I like about that song is that like Chumbawumba's 'Tubthumping', it manages to sneak in some swearing without any radio censors ever picking up on it.

I also remember getting a bit teary when they played it on TOTP for the last time.

TotP ALWAYS featured the censored 'Bullfrogs are Bullfrogs' overdub

Has to be English Rose for me, tis our song the Mrs and Me...was our first dance at our wedding. All because of the time I spent away in the Royal Navy.

Strange Town is a close second....

Reading all the other responses and remembering all the other songs (great shouts for Smithers Jones, both versions, and Saturday's Kids) just makes me appreciate what a great, great band The Jam were. Fantastic songs, truly inspirational.

So how come everything that Paul Weller has done since then has been a boring load of complete and UTTER bollocks?

NOTE: I appreciate this may not be a popular opinion, so fire away! :)

He's writing and singing stuff reflecting his older years, he'd sound like a right spanner doing yoof stuff at his age, and look as sad as The Who/Rolling Stones

I was expecting abuse but actually that's a fair comment! :lolol:

I suppose we all settle down (read 'get a bit boring') as we get older, and also he did set such a high bar for himself.

Sounds like Croydon's advertising slogan.

The town of Palace with no underground.
I just thought the thread title was just a clever way of asking if Palace were going to be relegated...
