[Albion] Arsenal fans in home stands

Plenty of them in 1901 yesterday. Got talking to three of them before the game. One was from Brighton, one from Haywards Heath and the last lad did actually live in London. The kiddy from Haywards Heath asked the other two if they were going to celebrate when they scored. The response was the person on the phone told him that they could could celebrate. The official club line is:

We ask all visiting supporters to remain respectful and to conduct themselves appropriately as failure to do so may result in stadium ejection in accordance with the Club’s T&Cs.

To be fair though most of the Arsenal fans around me adhered to the above. In fact the lad directly in front of me I hadn't clocked he was Arsenal until he gave a muted clenched fist when Trossard scored.

The other thing that pisses me off is why have a dress code and not stick to it. Again the club line:

Under 14s may wear home replica shirts, otherwise no colours, home or away, are permitted.

Yesterday there was a youngish lad (certainly under 14) in a full Arsenal kit. Granted it would have been harsh to not allow a kid in but for the Luton game this season it was ridiculous. The bloke behind me had a bright orange Luton polo shirt on with pin badges all over the collar. Good job we stuffed them.

Bet I wouldn't get in if I turned up wearing shorts.

There were a couple in front of me in EU. Their body language told me they were Arsenal but they were well behaved so I didn't particularly care.

Yep have to agree rules are rules if a person turns up in an away shirt maybe the club could offer them a home top of some description on loan for a small fee, deposit required or refuse entry. That'll teach them.

Just back from a few days abroad. We went to see the relegation battle between Cologne v Bochum on the Saturday. There was one Bochum fan in our block who was wearing his colours, not a single Cologne fan seemed bothered. Bochum scored and this fan went crazy. Did it all kick off? No. Was this fan evicted? No. Late into the game Cologne score twice, the tables turn, any grief given to the Bochum fan? I think you can guess the answer. He was just left to sulk. See picture- quite amusing. Obviously the culture of away fans sitting in the home end is different depending on the league, the country you are in and the degree of rivalry between the teams but to witness it happening and it being so totally acceptable and part of the norm was really quite very refreshing.

It's why I didn't list my eldest's ticket on the exchange, I didn't want a plastic cockney sat next to me.
How the feck do they get tickets anyway? Who joins another club's membership for the chance of one ticket a season knowing you can't actually act like a fan of your club, what's the point? Plus what sort of arsehole Albion fan knowingly gives a ticket to an away fan?

When it was free, I used to be a member of Fulham so I could get tickets in the stand next to the away fans. I stopped when membership became £50 (and the home tickets £70 on top).

As someone that has been in the “wrong end” at Palace three or four times and (although it didn’t come to it) was preparing to walk across hot coals for a pair at Ajax, then probably me.

As for the point, I can’t explain, we all do and see things differently.

The Man U tickets that went on sale today required Albion+ with 165 points or more to get them. Then, tomorrow it will be 55 points.

After that it’s 14 days ownership of Albion+, so I would expect away supporters to get some of those tickets. But at least the club are trying to offer the better seats to Albion supporters first.

I only went in the away end once when we were at home (to West Ham) and we ended up playing like Brazil 1970* and winning 3-0. It was bloody horrible.

*maybe a slight exaggeration.
