I get the privacy pop up every time I open a new page. Is that normal? It's only started happening recently

I also get this quite regularly now. Often when I close and re-open my browser (Chrome) it pops up with this on first load. This has only been happening for the last couple of months.

I've had a full screen ad for something or other to do with B&H Council a few times a day recently. Will take a screenshot next time it happens

I'll bet I'm not the only one who had to look up what 'interstitial' means.

:)
It's an ad that appears when you navigate from one page to another.

It won't be every page - they're typically set to only appear every 10 or 15 minutes, so you may get one on your first page jump and then none for quite a while.

...but logged-in users shouldn't be getting any at all, so I'm trying to figure out why they are!

Thanks - that's useful information.

Members should not get any interstitials or vignettes anywhere on the site.
Happening regularly for me over the past week. Go to the home page (https://www.northstandchat.com/), click on anything and I'm immediately redirected to that URL with a pop-up ad.

Easy to work around, go back, press what I wanted to go on again and it works fine.

They usually have a close button which gets rid of them.

I genuinely have no idea why they are happening - I just can't see anything that could be doing it. I need to go and take care of some stuff for my mum - I'll look at it again as soon as I get back. I've almost certainly done something stupid somewhere, but I haven't noticed it yet.

No changes made there either.

It's almost certainly something at your end.

The site will need to set a cookie to record your instruction with that, but if your browser is blocking cookies or, possibly, has security/privacy settings turned up high, that cookie can't be set so each time you go to a new page it will ask you again

I have tried changing the cookie settings on chrome but I'm still having the same issue. I changed it from blocking third party cookies to "Allow third-party cookies". I don't particularly want to change it from "standard protection" to "no protection" on the security settings as it says that isn't recommended.

Any other suggestions?

No pressure at all! Wasn't particularly complaining either as the fix is two clicks long so no trouble, just felt you'd want to have as much info as you can (y)

(the issue seems to be a vignette ad that failed to load consistently, causing the screen to freeze as if it was there but without the close ad button coming up - ad is now showing the close button).

Reading this thread, I had a large banner taking up the bottom third of the screen from Salesforce selling AI.

I've not made any changes at all to any ads for months, and certainly haven't added any pop-ups or similar for users.

I think, occasionally, one of the standard banners can go a bit crazy - I know very occasionally on my phone, a banner may stretch out as I'm scrolling.

I run the site with all the ads myself, so I'll keep an eye out, although the nature of ads is we all get different things. By all means post on here if and when it happens - the useful information is:

- Which page
- Desktop or mobile
- What the ad was for
Thanks for looking into this. It isn't a big deal, but I thought should let you know. It still happens a bit. Three times today...

I will keep an eye on when this happens going forward as I haven't yet

Had the privacy one a few times but not that often, maybe a couple of times per day.

OK - I've turned off pretty much all ads for everyone.

I've not had the interstitial myself since, so please let me know if you do get it. I'll leave things as they are overnight and into tomorrow morning.

I'll then turn them on one by one to see if/when it comes back.

Frankly, I'm still at a complete loss as to why it was happening.
