Why is it EVERY single goal is now celebrated with a sliding knee skid across the pitch ? EVERYONE. The 8 goals of March, every one. I don't remember this being done in 70s 80s 90s but now it is boring tedious and predictble and it cuts up the pitch. Just STOP

If I was a manager – and I'm not, for the record – I would ban knee slide celebrations. It can't be good for the knees.

Instagram has a lot to answer for here.

I know for a fact that players know where official club photographers are going to be stationed and ensure that they celebrate in front of them, so they get some good shots to share with their adoring public just as soon as they get home after a match.

To be fair amongst the dross there are some belters that are worth the admission price alone. Steven Bergiwjn's is pretty special and another reason why he should be top of our summer shopping list.

There's a certain art in a good celebration- think Crouch's robot, Robbie Keane's gymnastics, Gazza's 'dentist chair', Fowlers 'snorting the line'....

When its done right its a beautiful thing, and can be a brilliant way to connect with the fans/mock the opposition support. The issue as pointed out is those doing it now to create a 'brand' or content for their latest social media post

In this day and age when we're literally not allowed to do anything at the match anymore, even a wonker sign can get you a steward tap on the shoulder, it pisses me off that an oppo player can sprint and 'celebrate' in front of the oppo fans. Saka on Saturday was totally unneccessary, shame he couldn't have done that in the Euro final the prick.
I'm well and truly 'anyone but Arsenal' this season. I hope Kane knocks them out of the UCL too.

Quite. I mean, sure you've just taken the lead, but how do you know you're not going to go on and concede 4? No one bats an eyelid when a consolation goal isn't celebrated when it's scored last. Hold off on the celebration in case the goal you've just scored ends up being a consolation that was scored first.

Part of the game. If Joao Pedro scores that penalty away to Arsenal and celebrates the same way in front of their fans we'd love it

Must admit I find all opposition goal celebration annoying. Still dont understand why clock is not stopped when goal is scored and restarted at KO. Then doesnt matter how long they take. Lets face it if a side goes 2 up they will take ages but if they are pulling a goal back they are back redy to KO of within seconds. Is this taken into account when adding time on or is it a set ammount for all goals

I’m sure I read a stat that teams are most vulnerable to conceding after just scoring themselves.

I think, like most annoying things in football, it is partly cynical gamesmanship.

Players making the sign of the cross is a tad annoying after scoring - if there was a god I think they'd have more important things to be getting on with rather than celebrating goals

'Straight away' would be wrong - players and fans should be allowed to enjoy celebrating a goal. It is just when it is dragged out for waaaay too long that it gets infuriating.

But in principle, I agree - I'd love them to come up with an agreed time (60 seconds, seems reasonable), after which the other team are free to kick off, regardless of whether the scoring team are back in position.

Some of the dragged out celebrations are utterly ridiculous, and are surely done deliberately to kill the game. the one for Roma's third goal in the away game was beyond ridiculous. Must have been about THREE MINUTES all in.
