Quick question, I was informed last night that there is no such thing as a potato scallop in this country, and he wouldn't ask our local fish and chip shop if they had them. This seems a travesty. Its sliced potato, dunked in batter and fried, well tasty. Are they called something else here, or is there no such thing?

I noticed the £8.50 cod sandwich at the Amex yesterday. It looked a bit small for that so I bought a sweaty cheeseburger in a bag instead.

2 fish, 2 chips & 1 large battered sausage. £23.50
No idea if that's cheap or not but our chippy in town, Riverside Fish Bar, makes the best chips around.

I'm not buying it out of principle.

(I agree, after 13 years on this forum I find the threads derailed by the same fish puns every 2-4 weeks tedious and boring. I guess it's what makes people happy though)

On the advice of a poster here (sorry, I’ve forgotten who) I ordered from Lexden fish and chips in Seaford. And it was probably the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. £21.40 for two medium (massive) cods and a regular chips between two of us. The portions were huge, and it was the freshest tasting most beautifully cooked battered fish I’ve ever tasted.

Highly recommended, even if you have a travel a little bit.

I drove down early yesterday, had parking in EDF booked. But arrived in hove too early for it to be open, so popped in to Uncle Sam‘s in Hangleton by the Grenadier Pub. It was the best cheeseburger and chips I have for a very long time. One billion times better than the offerings at the Amex. I think it was £8

West is BEST
Very hard to find a good British run chippy these days down south.

All run by foreigners who like to charge through the roof.

Shame.

Another one for the Uncle Sam’s love in, consistently the most favourite “brand” on NSC. Next time give the chili cheeseburger a go - outstanding.

You need to find a new porpoise in life to stop yourself floundering.

Otherwise you cod be skating on thin ice.
