Injuries aren't to blame for this one, teams have worked us out
Brentford decided they wanted a point from this game and got it. We were cautious and never threw too many forward. If we’d had properly gone for that, I’ve got a feeling Brentford would have done us on the break. RDZ was clearly happy with a draw too.

Hardest “one on one” I’ve ever seen then. One on ones tend to be coming straight at the keeper without a defender in sight. Not coming from an angle with a defender snapping at your heels.
A one on one is what it say on the tin. Defenders snapping on your heels is par for the course.

That's why Danny Welbeck plays for us. 3 great moments (should have scored the first, simply side footed it, poor header second and at the end he could have taken another touch and won a penalty, shot on target or tried to pass but he did none of these).

We controlled the second half but why or why to be play back SO much. Especially against a team like Brentford who defend so well. It's like our safety blanket.

Buonanotte too many touches and actually saw him take it off our players.
Dunk is going to get caught out one day with those classy back headers.
Feel so much more reassured with Bart in goal.

Those games is what is keeping us out of the Euro spots. We had easily enough chances to find our way through. We need to find ways of edging these games where we're miles better than these limited low block opponents

We really miss having two out and out wingers to provide width on both sides and move into the middle behind the lead striker stretching the defence. With two, it keeps them guessing, with one the out ball is easy to anticipate and double up on.

I just don’t understand why we slow everything down and turn back every single time in the final third.
I appreciate I am no more qualified than football manager and Sunday league but, if we put some crosses in, had some shots from distance then defenders would engage and create the spaces for those intricate passing patterns. By doing the same thing every time, it becomes predictable and so easy to defend as they know Baleba and Lallana can’t hit a barn door from half a yard away.

We’ve seen before how amazing we look when we zip it around and pass and move quickly. Am I missing something or is there a tactical reason we don’t even seem to be trying to do that any more?
