Some interesting comments on the future in there - there is not a club that would tempt him to leave at the moment and he would rather stay at home than stay at/go to a club at which he does not agree with the future "plan". So it is that plan that the club and he have to thrash out and agree before next season.
Re Baleba, he has potential to be one of the best PL midfielders which will make the club happy as they can then sell him on!

If that is the part of the plan that he wants changing then he may well be disappointed.

Quite. 🙂

It doesn’t really matter - you quoted Jonny Cantor’s press conference notes too that referred to RDZs selection choices but your comments (at least the first two) are still idiotic because how does RDZ saying he wants to discuss where TB and PB take the Club before he signs a new contract be ‘undermining the god of BHAFC’ or ‘having an ego which is out of control’? Sounds like a manager with understandable ambitions - if we don’t share those and TB/PB are not on the same page with where RDZ wants to take Brighton, then if course he will move on and look for a bigger club - one that can afford to challenge for Champions League (which is what RDZ was doing at Shakhtar before the war in Ukraine forced an end to his contract).

Sounds like a real seminal turning point for us - Does Brighton stay a middle table team chasing Europa or Conference each season from a 6-7th place finish or does TB invest substantially more in the Club‘s operating costs to allow us to progress even further?

Perhaps you should listen to Klopp’s press release - your armchair understanding of RDZ’s qualities, and why he might want to set his ambitions on a bigger club, might be improved that’s all.

On Roberto and what makes Brighton such a difficult opponent...Klopp said:

“Roberto is doing obviously an incredible job there and it's a different game against Brighton, definitely. I think we improved over 18, 20 months since he's there. The first game was surprising – I think we were the first opponent after he joined the club, if I'm right, and we had no clue what we have to expect. We knew how he played in his former club, we knew what Graham [Potter] did, but nobody knew how that would look in the end and it was quite impressive how quick he obviously got the team in his way. Since then, it only got better, it's really impressive. It's a different way of playing football.

“The way they play. It's a really different way – I couldn't coach that, it goes against my personality, but it's a good watch. It's very demanding for the players, it's clear positioning, hold your position, keep your positioning, pass in the right position, pass in the right moment. He's a top coach, he's doing really well. It's super-interesting to see. I like watching them, to be honest. That makes it tricky. It's just a different way. It's possession-based but even more structured from a positional point of view from each player than maybe City or whoever has a bit more freedom in. They do really well. On their day, they can beat any team. But now [the] good news, we can do that as well, so we will try.”
Great Post 👏

so what’s the embargoed section about?
Isn’t it usually related to team selection - ie holding back on releasing any news ahead of the line-ups to avoid giving the oppo an advantage in preparation?

Think Belieba is being used as a pawn in this strange situation where clearly what RDZ wants isn't necessarily the club direction. I cannot understand why Belieba doesn't get more game time.

I have no idea, hence the question. I’d be surprised if they trusted a journalist with such sensitive information The day prior to a match.

Press conferences are effectively split in two so journalists working for the following day’s papers can have a different line from all the stuff that comes out today. If they break the embargo they and/or the publication they work for don’t get invited back

Hmm, Bloom continued with Poyet into the play offs and how did that work out? Not so well he left Vicente entirely out of the squad for home game, didn’t start Lua Lua who absolutely roasted them in the league game it was a shit show performance from Poyet.
Poyet sounds awful.

Thank goodness he isn't our manager!

We all know this summer is going to be very different - FFP biting, several clubs will have fire sales. BHAFC has lots of cash*. Will be fascinating!

*Presumably we'll find out last year's financial results on Tuesday (deadline for filing is tomorrow - but I'm assuming the accounts were submitted to Companies House some time last week (probably Thursday).

I think we will remain prudent

Not sure why anyone is getting upset by it. He said what he feels. The target when he arrived was to be a top 10 side. He led us to Europe and despite injuries and an engine room in the middle of the park not as good as any past 2 seasons we got to a last 16 europa league, we still have an outside chance of Europe next season as well all this with a squad that is lacking of players at the peak of there career. Most havnt seen enough Winters and some to many.
I think he just wants to know what he is signing an extension for? Is it to be a top 10 side or is the club going to aim to be a top 6 side in a regular basis.
Reminds me the season we got promoted. CH showed the previous season he was worth backing with a big shot at the PL and TB gambled on him and brought the quality we needed in that summer and the previous January. Long term now that was one of the best gambles he ever made.
RDZ is ambitious. Nothing wrong with that and if the club match his ambitions and I don’t think that’s quite what people think it is in terms of breaking how we operate he will be here next season unless Liverpool, Barcelona or Munich really want him. Personally I don’t believe he will be any of there first choices but then what do I know.

Very good point about the promotion season. That was a huge gamble - if it had gone wrong we would have had some significant FFP issues, I believe. TB is a gambler....knowing when to stick and when to twist is in his blood. That may not be the best analogy, but I'm sure it plays a significant part in TB's and BHAFC's success over the years.

I think only one person posting on this thread thinks that RDZ should go now.

I suspect also there is one person who likes wild swimming
And another who eats only raw food
And another who is, right now, wearing his wife's undies.

The tapestry is rich and the variation extensive. Humans are wonderful creatures

Oh, and one misanthropist who thinks everyone is a ****. :lolol:

That’s me. I’m in the paddling pool in my wife’s bikini eating sushi and wishing RDZ would leave today! 😂

I don’t like the bit along the lines of “the fans will always love me”. You haven’t been here 10 years and been successful for most of them. A season and a half with potters players and using us as a platform to better yourself would not keep the fans onside. I couldn’t care less if he goes now. Get another “project” somewhere else. We’re too nice to people.
