I think this is a very insightful post, it sums up my thoughts better than I could have written them myself.
The last line is the only bit I wouldn't have written as I think GP deserves a bit more respect, but I do feel it would be a big error if Potter returned. The moment things started to go wobbly a large part of the fanbase would go into a very loud meltdown.
I hope RDZ stays another season, but if not we are now an incredibly attractive club for any aspiring top coach to come to.
RDZ is a brilliant leader and hugely entertaining, but who ever follows will also be exciting, and it won't be Graham Potter.
Tony can take the pulse of the fanbase as well as anyone…..he‘ll know that there would be a significant element that would be toxic towards Potter. No chance he’d re-employ him imo.

Muzza loved life here. Poyet didn’t think Muzza worthy of a Championship level contract and didn’t like a player requesting it. So he got rid, deeming CMS better. CP allowed Muzza to carry on living in Brighton.
I will never, ever understand (or fully believe this).
I can't think of a player more suited to a Poyet system than Glenn Murray. I can't think of a less suited player to a Poyet system than Craig Mackail-Smith.

Whatever happens, I’ll trust the club to do the right thing. They normally do.
I think Bloom would re-employ Potter if he thought he was the best available. Fans may grumble at the beginning but would be fine if the results were as good or better than this season. That said, I still don't think isn't good enough to be employed by a top club so isn't going anywhere.

I can imagine Tony having an in depth conversation with GPot either way, discussing long term goals, likely investment, playing style etc - Tony doesn't hold grudges and I'm sure he's still on good terms with him.
For Potter to be considered to come back, he'd have to build bridges with the fans though. His increasingly chippy attitude towards any criticism last time was f***ing annoying, for someone who claims to understand emotional intelligence, he never displayed it in his own behaviour. I don't think an apology would be needed, not explicitly, but his bahaviour would have to reflect his humility.
I was as frustrated as anyone during the barren spells under Potter, but I will say that in that period before he left (across 2 seasons) we were playing a much more entertaining style, scoring goals and looking good for top 10. If he was to come back, I'd hope that; he can convince us he cares, we can get past his departure and we can play the style of football we saw v Leicester etc.

But otherwise I agree, both Bloom and Barber have made it clear they don’t resent Potter since he went. If RDZ was to go, I really hope we do go for Potter, looking around Europe I don’t see a better, realistic man for the job.

De Zerbi, who's been loyal to the club, agreed to a contract where he can only move post season and who got a decimated squad to the last 16 of the Europa League needs to go (based on perceived demeanour at press conferences and a Twitter rumour to sell papers) and the dull yes man who was loyal right up to the point Chelsea flashed their knickers mid-season and then helped them asset strip us needs to come in?
I suppose I could at least go back to sleeping through home games as we go on massive winless and goalless runs again and we can all look forward to finishing 12th.
