I'm 68. I did my first 2 last night. Could've done with a chisel this morning to remove the shell, but at least I wasn't confronted with a gooey mess.

About 9 or 10. I used to do my mum breakfast on a Sunday morning, boiled egg and toast, or occasionally to mix it up I did toast and boiled egg. I'm sure Social Services now would have a fit to think of a 9 year old with a pan of boiling water, (and lighting the grill with a match!), but this was the Sixties. We had a good egg timer so they were always soft-boiled. Used to do hard-boiled eggs for picnics at about the same age.

I lost my skill (and the timer) as I got older. When my son was little he loved boiled eggs with Marmite soldiers. My wife could do them perfectly, but mine were more hit-and-miss. Once when it was very hard-boiled my son said: "Dad, you haven't cooked it long enough. The middle hasn't melted!"

Had my first pickled egg at the age of 40 at the Rugby club in Carlisle before a 2-0 defeat in 2008. I went vegan in 2009 I am not sure if these two events are related.

I don‘t eat eggs as a standalone item. Never had a boiled egg. When I was in the Hare Krishna movement we were told eggs were a menstrual byproduct and it has put me off them ever since.

Lovely stuff.

I was about 13 when I started making them myself and I’ve never stopped. Well, I have but I mean it’s a meal I enjoy to this day.

Not sure about the first time but can't remember the last time I hard boiled an egg. Plenty of soft boiling to make runny yoked scotch eggs - much better than the dry hard boiled variety.

Absolutely love eggs. Used to make cooked breakfasts for the family sometimes when I got in from my paper round and they would often be boiled egg or poached egg with toast, so I've been rustling them up for nearly 40 years.

Actually had boiled egg and toast for breakfast this morning. Perfect consistency with a nice runny bit to dip the toast in, but then I've had a lot of practice.

There's an art to hard boiling to avoid the yolk going grey.

The first time I hard boiled an egg was the first time I tried to soft boil one.

And I still can't get a soft boiled egg right!

From about the age of 7 or 8 I used to always cook eggs … boiled, scrambled, poached omelette or fried. Still do 2 or 3 times a week.

Don’t forget to add vinegar to the water to stop the shells from cracking whilst cooking.

If they just crack a little bit, then you can get a hard boiled egg with less white - which suits my Mum. 12 minutes for very large eggs, with an instant transfer to cold water to stop the yolk from blackening.

Don't know about eggs, but I was using a chip pan unsupervised by age 10 - not a modern electric one, but a basic pan with dripping that you put on the gas. I have no idea how my parents had the nerve to let me!
