The Palace were vague but basically honest about her condition from the start. They said she was having a major operation and would be out of action for months, while was both 100% correct and also vague.

The difficulty comes after the cancer was diagnosed. Now, I presume it isn't expected that she would go straight from the doctor to the press office and announce the cancer, and let her children pick it up off social media. Even the most ardent critic would expect her to tell the children first.

How soon should that have been? It's been a month. How long would have been too long?
Also, it was made very clear in the announcement Kate made that telling the children was deliberately held off until they broke up from school so they did not have to go to school under the glare of journalists after just being told their Mum had cancer.

It's fack all to do with any of us, ultimately. But the country has this weird fascination with the royal family where they think they have the right to know exactly what's going on with them. It doesn't help that - as royal deaths (Do, Queen mum, Queen) have proven - some royalists clearly care more for the royal family than they do their own!

Many people think of them like a soap opera, demanding to know the next instalment. Netflix dramas like The Crown don’t help, and tabloids are like blood sucking leeches with their insinuations ‘a source has revealed’ or ‘friend told us’.
Unfortunately, it sells papers & magazines. The Duke of Edinburgh hated it.
