So, since you're arguing with me, I deduce you think that Trumps loyal supporters will feel poorer and less free because they realize he failed with the wall, and will therefore vote for Biden.

I think his supporters will vote for him again, despite the fact that he didn't do what he said he would the first time, because they're too stupid to think.

I suspect we largely agree, as usual

Oh Trump always looks finds a way out of the fox hole - like floating Truth Social on the financial market for example

I wouldn’t like to be a shareholder in any of Trump’s enterprises frankly - I would be surprised if Trump’s Truth Social even provided the cash he needs to pay his $454 bond to NY given his history of fraud and deception - it is likely his shares are highly overinflated and he will find it difficult to dump them to raise funds imo. Also -can you imagine Truth Social, the hotbed of fake narratives it is, to withstand the increased regulatory oversight and public scrutiny that comes with public companies? It does not bode well for a man that has prided himself in private investment port folios and regarding any government interference in his business affairs as witch-hunts 🤷🏻‍♂️.
There is no way that any serious corporate investor (pension schemes, mutuals, etc.) is going to put a lump of money into this business, which made losses of $50M on turnover of $3M last year and has no reasonable plans to achieve breakeven, let alone profit. Because of this, the notional $6bn value is a nonsense and there's no chance that he'll get the $454M bond he urgently needs on the back of this.

the merger it's done, renames as Trump Media from Monday. no idea how funded but the valuation is there. though his stock would be locked for some time, he might be able to borrow against them. jammy git.

Yes, but do you think the shares will be worth anything like their current quoted price in 6 months time, the delay which Trump has to observe before being able to sell shares or use them as collateral?

i cant fathom the value now, let alone 6mth. nontheless, he has a substantial increase in net worth that can be securitised.

Apparently his social media company, Truth Social, is about to go public. Possibly $3bn dollars on the table.
Its Man City Sponsorship levels of corruption in that valuation.

It was losing loads of money, mooted to go under at one point. This shell company bidding for truth social, is just a mechanism for greedy billionaires who want his deregulation and tax cuts + foreign actors who want his chaos and puppet subserviance to hand him the cash he needs.

Like someone putting together a dodgy entity to buy your car for 3 million.

So, hopefully if he loses the election, it will all go bust.

But by then I guess he will have cashed in, leaving others to lose out.

That's correct.

Only time will tell, of course, but that isn't my expectation.

I wonder what @lasvegan thinks?
Or Democrats will feel poorer and less free because they now realize Biden’s border policy is a national disaster, and will therefore vote for Trump. A really good opinion pice by Victor Davis Hanson.

How would any American feel "less free" because of the border control, or lack of, on the south of the US ?

I was just paraphrasing HWT’s original post.
To be fair, I didn't write anything about the Democrats.

I was trying to explain how people who voted for Trump (and others who didn't) might consider that they would (still) feel safer and richer under Trump (even though the data may not support these notions) and wondered whether you agree.

And you went all 'whatabout Biden'. You're better than that

Okay, what I should have said I was paraphrasing your words but flipping the parties. My apologies…

If he becomes president again he can pardon* himself and the court cases would have to stop.

Unless Congress (republican majority) vote to impeach him. And the chances of that are.......zero.

Trump has to become president again in order to shore up his finances and untouchability. The only thing that may stop him is a conviction before the election. And I say 'may'.

*This looks unacceptably bad to UK eyes, but it would be legal in America, and the president is like the king in the US, in that it is considered unpatriotic by 80 million plus to not bow down to the president. My president, right or wrong.

And let's not forget, it took the resolve of the conservative party to free the nation of Johnson. A man whose narcissism is beaten only by his laziness. Trump isn't lazy, sadly. And the republicans are not prepared to put the nation or even their own reputation and legacy above fealty to their Big Dog.
“Trump isn’t lazy” what????

Relentless and a workaholic. You can hate him, but you can’t call him lazy.
Do you have a copy of Michael Wolfe’s Fire and Fury? There’s a great description in there of how when Trump moved into the WH in 2016, he had locks installed on his bedroom door, 3 TVs installed in the room and after 6pm would retire for the evening and spend time watching TV and eating cheeseburgers. Conversely, according to a report quoted by a BBC article in 2018, ”Mr Obama had "night owl" habits and was known sometimes to stay up until 01:00am or 02:00am working after his family was asleep …Other presidents, like both Lyndon B Johnson and Bill Clinton, were known to make calls in the middle of the night.”

There are also accounts in Fire and Fury of how he refused to let WH staff clean up his room or pick piles of clothes up off the floor.

“According to the (Axios) report” the BBC article continued; “the president has designated "Executive Time" from 8:00am to 11:00am in the Oval Office, but actually spends these hours in his residence watching television, making phone calls and tweeting”. Trump built “unscheduled "Executive Time" during the work day“ into his diary which was “spent in the dining room next to the Oval Office where the president watches cable news…In one example Axios presented, the president's schedule began at 11:00 with "Policy Time", then "Executive Time" at 12:00, an hour for lunch, followed by more "Executive Time" from 13:30”

Trump also promised in August 2016; "I'm going to be working for you. I'm not going to have time to go play golf." He had wracked up at that point 298 visits to golf clubs at a cost to the taxpayer of $144,000,000. He played 19 rounds of golf in work hours just in his first 100 days in Office cf Obama once, Biden once.

The Report concluded that: “The main difference …,is that Mr Trump's reported schedule could be detrimental to his ability to govern effectively.”

Mrs Margaret Thatcher was known to have 4 hours asleep a night - getting up at 5am to start work then spending the evening cooking/looking after her family.

As World leaders go, Trump is a veritable burger-eating couch potato, spends a lot of time playing golf, watching reports about himself on cable news and a slob by all accounts 🤷‍♂️
