I doubt it, unless we've seriously shattered our wage structure.
That was some sort of deal based on him being a free transfer, wasn't it? No fee, so the player benefitted.

If he consistently performed at the level he was, or above, just before his mid season injury then yes. & even then it would have to be on massively reduced wages. But there’s no guarantee he can keep to those levels and stay injury free. So really it’s a no.

I’m going to go against the grain here and say I think it could be a masterstroke. We have lots of examples of players who’ve been pretty average in their first season and then brilliant the next.
