In NSC terms this is like Hove Born and Bred announcing that he’s quitting this forum.
He is the Left version of Reform.
Labour are looking more electable the closer we get to the election with policies such as reforming the NHS, not just throwing money at it etc etc
A nice move from being elected just because they are not the Tories.
I cant stand Owen Jones, but as a life long left of centrist I certainly have no love for what the current Labour party are today and have no confidence that they will be anything other than another party in the pocket of big business. I couldn't trust Starmer less. WOuld still be better than the tories I guess but it really is depressing there is no way out of the terrible two-party trap politics has left us with.

This tribal derision makes no sense, but it’s hardly surprising given the NSC groupthink mentality. I don’t care much for Owen Jones but I thought his piece in the Guardian today on this subject was well worth reading. It reflects what I’ve thought for a long time, that there is no excitement now about voting Labour as there was in 1997. Most people will be voting against something rather than in favour of something. Which is fine in a democracy, but what a wasted opportunity. Labour have essentially said that they will continue with Tory policies. Their one big differential was the massive Green investment plan, and even that’s been shelved. Labour’s sole electoral appeal so far is that they’re not the Tories. The trouble is, as we will soon discover, they really sort of are.
I don’t know who yet, but I’ll be voting for a party that wants electoral reform. Some form of PR would deliver a perfect boot up the arse to Labour and the Tories — which is precisely why they are so vehemently opposed to it.
In the meantime, it’s well worth reading what Jones actually said, which I suspect most of the kneejerk posters here have failed to do.

Fine if he wants to explain why he's left, but I'm be more interested to hear him explain why he thought people would WANT to know why he left? To the point where a column wasn't enough, he's seemingly done a big video about it?
Genuinely, what difference does it make to anyone? I know who he is – and I've heard him speak about a few things in the past, but I honestly couldn't contain my indifference about what he does with his life. What does he expect people to do with the information he's providing?

He does have nearly half a million subscribers on Youtube - and I guess on other platforms to, so he has an audience.

Although I still don't get, in a world where there are so many different opinions about single subjects, why people give such a shit about what others think about things.
These two, and many others like them, do pretty well out of it...

Why not read the article or watch the video so you could have an informed opinion instead of guessing?
Maybe research whether what they think the labour party represents is what the current incarnation really plans to deliver? Like I said Jones is a cock but this shade of Labour feels very sinister to me.

A sign Starmer is doing something right. When Rees Mogg, Steve Baker, Mark Francois and Boris flounce out of the Tory party it’ll be a sign they are doing something right.

Starmer needs to have more up his sleeve than he's currently committing to.
Nicer Conservatives, isn't going to be sufficient to deal with the major issues affecting the economy.
Cutting the arse out of public services has been proven to not work
Privatising public services has been proven to not work.
Tax breaks to big business/the rich has been proven not to work.
The GE looks like a tap in.
No one iwill vote Labour because they want Starmer.
They are voting against the state of the economy.
Once he is the Government, Labour will be every bit as unpopular as the Tories are now, unless he can make meaningful changes.
