Oh mate!

6th in the EPL in his first season, last 16 of the Europa League, beating Marseille, Ajax twice and Roma, still top ten and all with a much worse squad. Transformed how football is played in the EPL. Highly respected by Pep. And you say EVERTON?

:wozza:
I may have been being a tad factious. ???

(and somewhat bemused by the tea-leaf reading of his pressers - 'he's going'; 'he's gonna singe a new contract!'; 'he's gone, innit'.)

Football is all about opinions. Nothing else. Just opinions. Fact.

(or......perhaps not :lolol: ).

Hope all's well

Staying.

It’s not about squad size though (see Man Citeh squad).

It’s about replacing players who can only manage about an hour a week match time and others who are injury prone.

Goodbye to the likes of Milner and Lallana who might retire. No more signings like Fati who have a history of big injuries.

Hopefully, our one hour per week players will just be Lamptey and Welbz (who are both absolutely class when on the pitch). I’m not sure Webster should make the cut.

We then only need 1/2 dozen players at most to bring in and solidify the squad including a CB, CM, RW & RB. I suspect that won’t mean increasing the overall squad size. I think we can use the Sima/Undav/Dahoud cash to cover most of that.

He will get his desired squad.
I'll go along with this as long as RDZ is nowhere near the recruitment process. :ROFLMAO:

against us and Spurs they sit and break - what a revelation, however they struggle when someone does the same to them hence they went out the cup home to Newcastle, have an inferior GD us and sit 4 points below with a game more played.

One of our problems continues to be quality of finishing, and it’s why forwards are the highest paid and highest costing players on the pitch. And when you have that problem AND you lose your best finishers to injury - yeah you have a bad spell, not because everyone has figured you out.
Noticed since Christmas we dont have enough players in the box when we attack. Begining of season when we were scoring for fun with March and Mitoma we had 4 or 5 players in the box waiting for the cross.

When MOTD did the post match analysis after the Palace 4-1 - they highlighted how many players we had in the box when we attack. (and likewise after the Sheff Utd win.

As said elsewhere, we're looking at goal scoring the wrong way round.

This squad isn't suddenly unable to score.
This squad had a comparatively tiny purple patch when it do score, before reverting back to type.

The ethos is still to get players into the box, but those players are Welbeck, The Lana, The Shadow of Ferguson, with Wee Billy poised for the half hearted clearance.

Thankfully we have set pieces to fall back on...

...oh.

A leopard can't change it's spots.
The worst thing to happen to us was the hope afforded to us by those few months of genuinely exciting, amazing football.

They don't quote the question he was asked, the context would probably ruin the story. I suspect he was just pushing away a question about whether he would be here next season, with a "I am thinking about this season, not where I might be next season." type answer.
I've watched the post match press conference (with Italian to English sub-titles) to try to get to the bottom of it!

He was asked about what lessons he'd learnt from this season. His answer was along the lines that we are doing better than last year when you take into account the high number of injuries we've faced and extra games we've had to play.

The final line, that was quoted by the Italian press, does appear to have been taken out of context - if the auto translate is to be believed...

I know you said no need - but I want to comment anyway :)

I think only if the teams coming in for him are elite level (Barca, Man Utd, Liverpool etc) then he might go, as it would be very difficult for him to turn down and no-one would begrudge him doing so as that is a huge achievement to have on your life story.

Unfortunately, it does appear that these are the teams that are 'interested' :-(
Barca can’t afford him, Liverpool will likely go for Alonso. My feeling is that likeliest destinations would be Man Utd or possibly Bayern Munich

It's a misinterpretation.

"next year for those who will be there" refers to the squad as he would not say "we will think about how to improve this" if he wasn't going to be here.
As for the ongoing speculation, I blame his interpreter. Maybe he is the one pushing for a move? :)

Not the problem imho I think we always have ,lots of players in the box. Problem with our attacking is that we have 1 way to attack. We pass the ball they swallow the bait and we play it to winger who try to get himself or the ball into the box. Passing it through the middle or shooting from distance, almost never see it. I get that shooting from 40 yards wont result in many goals from itself but just planting the idea that we MIGHT shoot instead of attacking our 1 way could be helpful.

Swindon, but used to be Manila
Would be grand if after the ManU match as many as possible could stay behind and show their appreciation not only to the players, but also to RDZ. It might be the last time we get to see him. We never got a proper chance to say goodbye to Chris Hughton ☹️
Have a clap for me.....I will be in Manila..

With respect, I think such speculation merely replicates the hundreds of so called pundits and football bloggers who generate evidence free rumours to capture public attention.

I would be sorry to see RDZ go this Summer but I have no control over that decision and for me predicting the outcome provides no pleasure or purpose. I hope I don't seem too much of a killjoy or just grumpy.

I am focused on now, and I feel really privileged and happy to be enjoying the best football in the Club's 123 year history.

I don't think he's done enough to get a job at a Barca, United or Liverpool etc

He certainly pisses me off sometimes but I hope he stays as we need some stability BUT if he did go I wouldn't be as devastated as when Potter left.

I guess this needs to be resolved before the summer window? Will TB go on the spending spree predicted in the summer window without RDZ signing a new contract or leaving. Or do we sign players regardless of who the manager will be when the season starts?

Think we’ll know the day after the season finishes. Tony doesn’t **** about - it’ll either be announcing his new contract or his replacement.
