[Albion] Gut feeling - RDZ staying or going after this season?

I voted stay, but there are many variables and nobody knows if a bigger club does move for him.

Its no secret he's been a bit unhappy with losing top players and lack of business in January etc he clearly wanted to drive the club onto the next level.

So my hunch is, he is waiting to see what the club will do in the Summer and if they are willing to match his expectations to move forward. If we do and Bloom is willing to back/bankroll what he thinks we may need to drive on, my money is on him signing new extended contract.

If not, then Man U, Barca or nobody, he won't sign or want to stay.

Definitely going. There will be too many big clubs who need a solution who will be willing to roll the dice.

I suspect the club know this hence persisting with youth purchases and not getting lumbered with an expensive January buy.

Needs to be some squad surgery in the summer for any new manager. Especially in centre mid and full back (still!) And if Evan doesn't wake up from his current daydreams, up front.

His Hughtoning on the touchline has very much worn out now - you're an adult for christ sake.

He's clearly not as good as others would have us believe but it feels like he's starting to lean into that narrative, as opposed to keeping it at arms reach.

Perhaps he's always been like that and I just didn't care.
Maybe it's the blindness of others who are causing me to react.

I think he has. I suspect that he’s done enough to show what his style of play is and how he operates, I think also he’s shown that he can make existing players better (I.e Solly, Dunk, Steele etc) which would be very attractive to a lot of clubs. The other clubs with assume that with better players come better results.

Not that I am saying that assumption is correct mind, that’s always why managers can often fail at big clubs!

I think only if the teams coming in for him are elite level (Barca, Man Utd, Liverpool etc) then he might go, as it would be very difficult for him to turn down and no-one would begrudge him doing so as that is a huge achievement to have on your life story.

Unfortunately, it does appear that these are the teams that are 'interested' :-(

Agree with this although I think he still fancies another season with the youngsters who will have matured and could be awesome.

Hope he stays but inevitably he will go as there are quite a few jobs coming available and a small pool of managers that look likely for them. If he does go, hopefully to somewhere in Europe

I think if he finishes the season strongly he goes. And sadly I think he might after yesterdays match. European Conference Qualification might be enough to see him stay, if not for the chance to get a stronger chance to win a trophy, but so many variables and honestly could be a really close end for europe this season.

I want him to stay but the weaker performances this season are causing some alarm bells enough to not make me too upset if he does. He is a tad tactically rigid.

I'll be honest here. I don't know if it's safe not to put the tin hat on or not.

There is no doubt he has been good for us. None at all. But I am tired of his statements sometimes as I have an absolute devotion to Tony and what he has done for us. I am conscious that this strategy has got us to what I believe is an almost impenetrable ceiling. And it's an incredible place to be.

But RDZ seems to go very Gus at times and it irritates me. If he goes, he goes. He's just passing through anyway, regardless of how the club does things. Most of the players want higher things. But Tony and our club are always here. And that is what matters most.

I think it will all come down to the chat that will inevitably happen at the end of the season between RDZ and TB. RDZ has said throughout that he wants his goals to be aligned with the club's goals. The question from RDZ will be whether the real ambition is for a top 6-7 finish to be the serious aim again. If the answer is yes, and TB promises a decent chunk of funds to improve the squad then I think RDZ will stay. His comments when he left Sassuolo were essentially that he'd taken the club as far as he thought possible, given the squad and the budget etc. That may well prove to be the case here as well if RDZ doesn't get the answers he wants.

Nobody knows.

Personally I think half the stuff you read in the paper regarding clubs wanting him is not entirely true. Some clubs might be seriously interested, but not all the ones that are being reported. For some he may me on their list of potentials, but certainly not first choice. Elite clubs tend to go for managers that have won trophies or managed other big clubs or have a historical connection to them, & De Zerbi doesn’t tick those boxes. Overall I just think the papers will make you think he is 1st or 2nd choice at about 5 clubs, when in reality he’s one of many names for maybe 2 clubs. If Alonso goes to Liverpool then I think there’s a decent chance he stays.

I think he's staying. Quite simply I do not see Liverpool, Bayern or Barca coming in for him. Considering all the obstacles we have faced this year we have done pretty well and I think we are laying some solid foundations on which we can build. I expect this summer window will be a busy one for us and we will still be an exciting proposition for RDZ.

If RDZ really has ambitions on top 6-7 and wants the club to match that - whatever it means, then I hope he comes out and explains how some of team selections, tactical decisions and fairly regular heavy defeats aligns with his performances as a manager and that ambition.

It’s quite baffling how he could have the audacity to ‘challenge’ the club when he’s the man in charge of the team. You can’t take the plaudits for big wins, beating some of the top 6 - yet not be responsible for getting hammered by Luton, failing to beat Everton, drawing with Sheff Utd & Burnley etc

I'm not sure but I think he goes, based on the poll results so far (50/50) it's very much up in the air!
"If" the rumours are true about Bloom being ambitious in the Summer then that could help De Zerbi to stay and I hope he does.

However, he has to improve as well, like learning to have a plan B. There have been times this season when it is obvious that we should not be constantly playing out from the back or we should play with a low block and play on the counter attack (Arsenal/Man City). I was proper peed off last Thursday as the tie was clear that we should be conservative in how we play against Roma and then come back to the Amex to get the job done (aka like Villa have done with Ajax). He can still be naïve so he needs to sort that out if he stays.

Well, yes. We forget that Sean Dyche took Burnley to two top ten finishes and a visit to Europe (and seems to have the wood on RDZ as well)

I'd rather him stay. I like his approach. I think a fit Albion squad as it stands is top 7-10 under a decent manager. But I don't see RDZ as the Messiah. Tony Bloom is Albion's footballing Messiah.
