Is this thread for ‘overly optimistics’, overly ‘negatives’,’realists’? - it’s so hard to tell these days having twice fallen foul of the Roma match thread for being too optimistic and foul of the comeback thread for not being optimistic enough 😂

:timmy::banana::ffsparr::bounce:

I think I’ll just say that I’m looking forward to it - the atmosphere should be great - nothing to lose - still
lots to play for - pride, team spirit, a time show some love for the lads and thanks for the European ride…

:albion2:

(3:2 to us but hopefully 7:2 😉)

Exactly! Juts go for it. No stress, no

pressure. We're almost certain to get beaten again but let's go down swinging, not on our knees.

Anyone considering not going, needs to write the words 'Roma, are coming to play Brighton, in Brighton in a competitive European fixture' on bit of paper and stare at it, until perspective re-applies itself
I’ve written “I’m going to the pub first” but it’s going to have the same effect.

We're on the back of a win. We need to build on that confidence and look to win the game. Clean sheet imperative, just get a second after 70 mins, have subs on and go for it.

We make chances in mostly all the games we play. In this one we need to make sure we take them whilst keeping it pretty tight at the back. If we're loose there they will certainly punish us.

Regardless of the overall result over the two legs it would be great to get a win. Finishing our inaugural European campaign with only two losses would be pretty incredible given our opponents.

Go into HT 2-0 up. That has to be the instructions. Get that done and we’ll work out what to do next at HT.

(Do the same again).

It’s so frustrating we couldn’t have just held it it even to 3-0. That would feel very tough, but an early goal would have us right in it. I still don’t understand the apathy around that third goal being offside, it completely killed the game. We were very much in the tie at that point.

Considering Roma has been charged by UEFA for their ‘political banner’, I hope they don’t.
Yes the last thing we need is a 50p fine.

I posted much the same POV last week but most people responded at the time by saying we/I should save my money and RDZ should forget it and focus on the league instead. I profoundly disagreed. But what you say is exactly where I’be been at since last Thursday- most of us are realistic enough I think to know it will take a miracle ( and a lot of errors on Roma’s side) to knock them out ( sorry Pollyannas and ‘outrageous optimists’)) but anyone thinking of not going because they think it’s a dead rubber or will not fully get behind the team doesn’t deserve to be called a fan IMO. This is one occasion our team needs to know we are with them whatever happens. Let’s show Europe, that Brighton will not roll over but put our best men forward and die with our boots on if we have to.

It’s entirely possible to be excited going into the game and in a celebration mood because of what we achieved in our first European campaign even if as it is looking like a near certainty, we get knocked out.

It is also more than possible we will win the match (even by a 2 or 3 GD) which will make the night even better!

Said it elsewhere but if we’re 2-0 up in the first half hour then it’s on, the crowd will be up and they’ll be nervy as hell

Big ask, but not unthinkable

Agreed. If we went in to the break 2-0 up the Amex would be absolutely rocking. Anything could happen then.

The closer we get to Thursday the more I'm looking forward to it. Complete apathy after the final whistle last week is slowly but surely turning into excited anticipation of something magical happening.

For those thinking of swerving it, just imagine how you will feel if, and yes it's a big If, we actually pull this off.

Miss what could be the greatest night EVER? Nah, not me.

I would love to see the ferocity of that Massive play off but with more poise in front of goal. A win would be an amazing farewell, a 4-0 then win on pens (all saved by Steele) would be equally amazing.
