Posted in another thread, but last night's starting 11 consisted of 6 players in their first full season as first teamers, at this level.
1 of those was only ever going to be able to make it up to half time, to be replaced with another youngster returning from injury.

That's too many to be competing at this level.

The kids we have are great, but De Zerbi has been forced to rely on youngsters all season.
What did we sign in the January window.... 4 teenagers.

It’s clear he is pissed off with the club for lack of investment in January. That seems to be rubbing off on the players now and we are playing without belief.

As has been said above, the club are far too reliant on signing kids.

Our highly thought of recruitment team have got it wrong in the last two windows.

We had a real chance to do something special this season, the club blew it.

RDZ is destined for the top but not yet and think he will be with us next season as he has a lot of learning to do and no better environment to grow than at Brighton. I think we will back him in the summer and have a much stronger and experienced squad for next season.

Last night was very high profile and him being schooled by De Rossi won’t have gone unnoticed and it was clear even RDZ lacked the experience and nous to navigate this kind of tie in Europe. That will not have gone unnoticed by any of his potential suitors and our defensive fragility is likely to put off the elite clubs where success is built on solid defending (Peps city being one the best examples).

I find these continual "hes leaving", "he's not got what he wants" posts truly stupid, expecting us to behave like the revolving door attutide of other clubs. Armchair managers and Armchair Tony Blooms at best.

Frankly I want Bobtalian here for a long time, I don't mind if we are building a team from young players up, we are currently sitting in 9th position in the Premier League. 9th, what on earth about that posesses you to think we need to lose our manager! and we've been considerably higher.

All this speculation is demoralising...I hope the players are firmly ignoring it....

Whilst I agree, he’s got a lot to learn - by definition he’s not destined for the top unless he shows a willingness to learn lessons and have a pragmatic plan b… right now, it’s pride before a fall - a pattern seemingly well established in his fledging coaching career.

Another thing which concerns me is the sheer amount of players who can’t manage 90 mins… outside of a core group, no one can make it past 60 mins… why? Intensity in training is too high, hence the growing fatigue based injuries and host of players simply unable to play for 90… again no coach can sustain this, and if Roberto can’t strike a balance he’s simply going to keep leaping from club to club with the same result… much like his hero.

Yep, can’t help thinking that De Zerbi’s chances of being poached by a top club might have taken as big a battering as the Albion in the last two games. Could be a silver lining for us, we keep him for another year at least, which I am all for. Head down, move on time.

I’m not particularly bothered either way whether he stays or goes but from his point of view, he’d be absolutely stupid to go. He’s got one of the best jobs in football with one of the most exciting young squads in Europe and supportive bosses, some of the most talented coaches in the world would be desperate for his job.

He’s got a lot to learn still, he’d be far better off doing that in our environment than in a more pressured one elsewhere. He’s done a decent job for us but we’ve been excellent for his career, he owes us some loyalty this summer IMO.

I don't he has shown that he is not yet ready for the "big" clubs and like the rest of our club is still learning his trade.
