Basilica in the Vatican was closed - almost always is on Wednesdays apparentlyDid the Vatican this morning but didn’t queue for them Basilica. The museums were amazing but the crowds even more so
Didn't think the crowds were too bad at all. Our guide (going with a tour group does mean skipping all the queues) highly recommended avoiding the summer completely when it's absolutely mobbed and 40⁰ with no aircon.

How have the prices generally been? I remember finding it second only to Paris in average cost in “tourist” areas - both made the West End look like Blackpool in value.
The Alps were pretty.
