No idea why a couple of my photos have appeared as just links since I’ve been here. Please do click on the link to see the barrier 😜
I was looking at your post yesterday and even if I downloaded the picture and re-uploaded it by editing your post it did the same. I also have no idea why!

I kept deleting and retrying. Really odd as process is straightforward and other photos have posted fine. It’s a mystery.

When we visited Rome a few years ago we turned up there on a Sunday morning - stunning. When we came out, the square was filling up rapidly and we wondered what was going on. Not being religious, we didnt realise the Pope was due to do an address from the balcony just to the right (out of shot). Turns out we got to watch Pope John Paul II's last ever appearance as he died a few days later.

I was there when he died. Staying in a hotel just up from the vatican. Got offered fortunes if i wanted to give up my room (inc a move to a hotel in another city). We stayed as it was a unique experience. Saw him carried through the square into st peters and ended up on cnn.

Had met him previously at gatwick airport (not in the wetherspoons but on the tarmac as part of a welcoming committee in 1982).
