Just looking at the app and I don't think you can buy Express tickets on it as they show as 'Not Purchasable'. It does allow you to buy tickets for the ordinary trains though. Anyone staying in the Trastevere area is better off getting the train direct to there on the local service.I've downloaded the app and will buy using that as soon as I land, so that I don't have to worry about all that validation nonsense. We've actually since changed our plans since I posted this.
Try without the 'quick tickets' option. Just 'tickets' - they seem to show then

Yes - see @PascalGroß Tips comment. Takes about a minute if you’ve got the app.
It’s easy to change the time of your ticket. I haven’t bothered with the app but the email I have for them has a ‘manage ticket’ option where you can change the time.
