The halving of points, in the playoffs, make it more likely the other teams can compete., but you would assume the gap is still too big.

As it stands 10 points to make up from both 3rd and 4th is surely too much over 6 games, even if playing USG twice, it would surely take a collapse of all collapses…! Could end up just wanting to draw with Anderlecht or beat them once to be almost enough to secure it too - and Anderlechts results will be just as significant as USG’s for USG - interesting!

Still 3 games to play in the league, so possibly could be less than 10 pts to make up, but yes still unlikely.

I seem to recall that USG's lead in their first season back in the top league had a similarly large lead prior to the play offs, but still lost out.

Top 6 go into play offs so 10 matches and 30 points at stake. A 10 point head start is helpful but not insurmountable. 10 draws would probably be enough!

USG has a 5 point lead at the end of that season which became a 3 point lead after rounding going into the play offs.

I thought it was top 4 so 6 games? Or have they change it?

Ah it is 6 - it was 4 👍

Choosing champions

Each club faces each other twice: one home game, one away game. At the end of the regular season the top six will play for the title in the Champions Playoffs (after COVID it was the top 4, as it is this season, but from next season, the league will revert back to the original format).4 Jun 2023

So maybe 10 isn’t cut and dry with 10 games to play!

Union's second leg of the Belgian Cup semi-final tonight home to Club Brugge - 2-1 down after the first leg. Union have won the cup twice but have not been in the final since winning it for the second time in 1914

Their play off system may be a bit complicated but I quite like it. It's MILES fairer than our play offs.

Anyway I hope they win it this time. I look forward to seeing their new ground when it is eventually built, as they might become genuine rivals to Anderlecht off the pitch too.

From the highlights of the last league game, the number 11 looks decent, on the left.

They've had some players there - Mitoma, then Adingra, and now this lad.

At least we are only playing for 3rd place in our play offs

The 99 for Brugge, Igor Thiago, has signed for Brentford, presumably as the Ivan Toney replacement.
Igor Thiago sounds like Ivan Toney on a computer game which doesn’t have the licence to use the real names
