He got a 1 from me for standing watching someone pass it to the space in front of him then standing watching the Wolves player take the ball and run past him
šŸ˜‚ he looks like heā€™s won a raffle at the moment

think his body shape is very conducive to being an elite midfielder. biggest negative i see now is that heā€™s very loose with the ball, but saw against bournemouth, palace and i think liverpool that he is someone who can hold his own, and i think his physical strength will be very useful once he has refined his technique.

as far as a caicedo replacement for this season goes however, i donā€™t think our recruitment was anywhere good enough
Caicedo was signed a good year and a half before his debut, Mac Allister was similar, Bissouma had a few games early under Hughton but also took a couple of seasons at least. The most complete DM we have bought in the premier league is Gilmour and he was only a bench player for the first 30 games or so. I don't think the recruitment team should get flak for Baleba.

yeah i have no qualms with the baleba signing, i just think bringing in him alone was a poor decision

why? they were dreadful. it offers no further implication beyond how bad they played. if you disagree, then thatā€™s fine
Agree. What are we supposed to do just rate everyone a 6 or above to be nice? Weā€™ll rate the players 10ā€™s when their good; when theyā€™re poor they need to be rated as such

This is true, but the problem was not signing a first team ready CM in the summer when weā€™d sold two, itā€™s put Baleba in an unfortunate position as he now has to play games which should really be being played by A. N. Other. That is 100% on the recruitment team.

I'm not going to grade anybody, but I am wondering when Fati will step up to the plate. He can play some sublime touches, but can't seem to really impose himself on a game. A goal from him on Saturday would be nice,
Beat me to it. Ooh Barcelona starlet! But has he shown huge signs of living up to billing.

And for me Baleba still looks a little heavy and naive.

That is the most daft thing, a base of 6 just for playing.

Why are 0 to 5.5 redundant? Out of a kindness?

Well we did, we signed Dahoud who was by and large fine, albeit not amazing, but after his red card against Sheffield RDZ didn't want to play him anymore. Whatever happened there is not really down to the recruitment team.

My eyes are too tired for ratings, but I hadn't realised Igor had such a turn of pace. The we he chased down and shielded Neto was impressive.
It reminded me of Bissouma chasing down Vardy a few years back.

Steele 4 One good save but the mistake for their goal set the tone for the rest of the game. It's not totally his fault we lost, the attack (and midfield, and defence) needs to shoulder a fair amount of the responsibility, but it would have been a very different game had we not gift-wrapped a goal for them so early on.

Peupion 5 Wasn't helped by Van Hecke or Steele for the goal. Can't be too harsh on him considering he probably wasn't expecting to play and was out of position. Did the basics well generally and settled into it.

Van Hecke 4 An accomplice for their goal with his overcommitting. Lost count of the amount of times he was slipping and sliding about. Totally let his man go for the free kick into the box which they should've scored from in the first half. He contributed to some of our better attacking moves and got in some decent positions but it was poor by the standards he's set this season.

Dunk 5.5 Made some good tackles and blocks, as ever, but his passing was noticeably off tonight.

Igor 5 Made two clumsy mistakes which nearly cost us, but some very good tracking back to deny Neto what would've almost certainly been a goal.

Estupinan 5 Put in a few decent crosses but didn't have much to aim for. Still looked a bit shaky defensively, but he was generally OK.

Gross 5 Put in a couple of good crosses but set pieces were generally poor.

Moder 5 Did fairly well. Arguably should've done better with his chance.

Ansu Fati 3 We have to bear in mind he is coming back from a long period out, but I was really disappointed with his performance tonight. I'm not giving up on him playing a big part for us in the next few months though.

Buonanotte 6 Actually brought some attacking creativity, caused them problems through the middle and was our only bright spark in the first half, looked a bit knackered by the second. He's been one of our best players recently and it's great to see how much he has developed. Needs to stop getting dragged into nonsense with the opposition and just get on with his game though.

Adingra 3 A wretched performance. I can only conclude from tonight that he must be in need of a rest. If so, just give it to him, there's no point using him if he is going to play like that.

Subs:

Enciso 6 Great to have him back. Actually tried to play direct, won some free kicks in good positions and caused them difficulties.

Welbeck 5 At least offered us something to aim for up top. Thank god his injury at the hands of that wanker Tarkowski doesn't seem to be too bad.

Baleba 4 That Liverpool game seems a long time ago now. He's clearly got talent but he also has a lot to learn.

Baker-Boaitey 4 Had little impact on the game.

Barco 6 A couple of decent crosses wins him joint MoM for me. Looked tenacious, eager to get on the ball and caused a bit of panic in their backline.

Any suggestions as to who we should have signed? Not that easy to find that level of player who would accept our wage structure. Most people, including me, assumed Dahoud would be up to the job ...

Steele - 2, awful, simply cannot continue to play him ahead of bart. only avoids a 0 as he beat the wolves player to the ball when igor sold him short

igor - 5, mindless back pass which nearly cost us but dealt with neto well

dunk - 4, very poor evening, all over the place

JPVH - 4, someone needs to tell him to stay on his feet. conceded numerous avoidable chances over the past few weeks. defensively a liability at times

pervis - 6, did okay

groƟ - 6, put in some good deliveries, very loose with the ball in midfield

moder - 4, offered nothing

puepion - 6, canā€™t be too harsh as he got stuck in and it seemed like van hecke didnā€™t want to give him the ball, but evidently very raw

adingra - 2, dreadful, his worst game for us

fati - 3, tonight was the night youā€™d want your barcelona loanee to step up. he didnā€™t

buonanotte - 7, everything good we did went through him. a couple of errors, but he is obviously on his way to being a top player

subs:

welbeck - 6, much more presence with him up top, shame the shots didnā€™t follow

baleba - 5, you can tell heā€™s going to be a great player, however i really have to question if bringing in someone so raw was the best choice to replace caicedo

enciso - 6, we have missed him a lot, can cause chaos and will be invaluable with mitoma out.

barco - 7, MOTM, more of this guy please

BBB - 6, didnā€™t see much of him

everyone else:

RDZ - 6, obviously very limited tools to work with now but this keeper rotation has got to stop

Ref - 5, added time was a joke, otherwise meh
Did you watch in the stadium or on TV? Either way, your scores suggest you were thoroughly pissed.

Not sure what game you watched. But very harsh on Dunk and JPVH especially. A lot of players slipped on that surface tonight and JPVH hardly put a foot wrong except 2 slips due very wet pitch and made some great forward runs.

Adingra wasn't dreadful at all.

Peupion a 6, with Dunk/JPVH 4 and Adingra 2, like really? Peupion did nothing tonight.

Baleba may be great he also may not, tonight he looked a bit lost, he dithered on their 18 yard line, lost ball which resulted in a swift counter and Wolves corner. Nothing to suggest greatness imho, but we can hope.

When Iā€™ve seen him for the U23s, thatā€™s always been where heā€™s played.
Wide right. Perhaps not as deepat times, but fundamentally the same.

I donā€™t think Tony would give me access to his database, but I would imagine it doesnā€™t have an upper age limit of 20

If Fati had fulfilled his early potential at Barcelona, he would still be there. He is with us, because for whatever reason he hasnā€™t.

And just because Barca gave him a stupid contract, doesnā€™t in itself make him a world class player.

We have got from Fati, about what we should have expected. Injuries and the odd moment of quality.
