What is a big budget at that level?
1k+ per week, a few teams I’ve heard floating around that.
Teams like Newhaven and Steyning are starting to see the fruits of having the 4G pitches which they obviously make good money hiring out. Newhaven for a fact used to pay £10 per point but they’ve definitely got a budget now and players on wages

About 20k for the season
So both of you have an idea of a big budget, but over a 40 week season one of the numbers is twice as big as the other. I guess very few people really have an idea what budgets are at that level. I've seen some of the money at step 4 and even there the budget varies wildly.

I'd guess that a "big budget" to Varndeanians or Uckfield might be a very different order of magnitude to a "big budget" to Steyning.

How different to days when I lined up for my petrol money after training at Steyning

That's interesting. Wasn't being snarky, was just interested in what the perception was for money at that level. As it's a roughly 40 week season that means a £20k budget is paying roughly £500 per week which between, let's say just the starting 11 being paid that's £45 per week each with subs not being paid. That doesn't sound that ridiculous to me. Is that for a club at the top end of step 5?

and looking at some of the players knocking around in the SCFL this season I wouldn't think some of them are playing for anything near as low as £50
Anecdotally I hear that quite a few are on £100+ per week. In my view that’s an unsustainable business model and it doesn’t take Einstein to work that out. There are numerous examples that sadly demonstrate the folly of going down that route.

Marine back up to 2nd in the NPL Premier and Bradford PA into the relegation places. It showed. The skill level differential wasn’t as wide as the Albion at Sheffield last week but still only one team in it. @Brovion Jake Daniels barely had a touch. The closest he got to a goal was missing connecting with a header when two yards out and an open goal beckoning.
Rossett Park well worth a visit for anyone in the area. It is 3 sided as one side backs directly on to back gardens. Similar on the opposite side but room for a tin roof topped terrace. Behind one goal is an open terrace and at the other end we sat in a smart stand with a terrace in front. The 1894 Bistro behind the stand was built with the £300k raised from selling over 30k virtual tickets to the Spurs Covid FA Cup game.
We will definitely be back for another game very soon.

Oh dear. Thanks for the update, I wasn't expecting anything but it does sound worse than I expected. BPA is not a happy ship at the moment. :(

Only seen it from Pete O'Rourke at the moment, who is iffy at best on reliability. I'd be surprised if he goes, good luck to him however, he's a great coach.

Tonight's The Night as the man in the spangley tight pants sang.

Sussex Senior Cup semi-final at Lancing as it's Isthmian Premier Horsham v SCFL Premier Steyning Town. 7.30pm ko. It should be a great night with Steyning on a good run - and having previously knocked out the Albion U21's and Burgess Hill. But Horsham are a top club and team. It'll be a decent crowd (I hope).

My lad tells me that AH was linked with the (recently) vacant Eastleigh job. You can imagine that one might have appealed to him, IF he were looking to step up. Decent sized club with good facilities - underachieving but with no huge inherent expectation. And of course he could have done it without uprooting.

No idea whether it was nonsense, or he turned it down, or was perhaps interviewed and didn't get it. They went with Kelvin Davies - ex Saints, and still lives very local.

I'll be there! I'm pretty fond of both clubs but do have a tendency to pluck for the underdog

I see York are not far from relegation places. Surely he would not uproot so far away if there is any chance they could be playing at same level as Worthing.
