[Albion] Marseille

It wouldn't be terrible surely. Probs tix for everyone, plenty travel to that part of France, plenty hotels and we know we can beat 'em with our silky football

How do they do the draw if some teams can’t play each other then?
They redraw but this only applies if two teams are picked from the same association.

Edit - see @Bodian video - they separate eligible teams into bowls for each draw.

Hopefully not an Italian team, a pasta, pizza or wild boar meal photo fest will be a real anti climax.
I have my heart set on Freiburg….but if it’s Italy I’ll do my best.

Not in the round of 16 for sure.
Not sure about that, I can’t find it on the UEFA site. What is definite is no team will play another team from their own national association. That is somewhat irrelevant as all the English teams - us, Liverpool and West Ham finished as group winners so won’t be drawn against each other.

I’ll wait for an Albion update but this sounds ominous

Yes, as I said, unlikely he will be fit - he has quite a significant injury unfortunately - RDZ said several weeks ago iir, he would be out for a while with a hamstring injury - Speculation on Premier League update injury table is 31 March.

Tbh, I am more pissed off about Hinsh not being fit - we have goal scorers/strikers coming out of our ears at the moment but he is very useful for us as a Right FB.

They don’t redraw. The video below shows last seasons last 16 draw.

They’ve got all the playoff round winners in one pot. They then have a pot for each group winner with multiple balls in it.

When a play off winner is drawn a ball is taken from each group winners pot (if they are eligible to play against the side drawn). Those balls are put into a pot and one drawn at random to complete the tie. The other balls are then discarded and the process starts again with drawn sides removed from the process entirely.

The first tie drawn in the video is a good example of what happens as it’s Union Berlin and they can’t be drawn against Frieberg so that ball isn’t taken from their pot (you can see the bloke setting up the balls skipping a pot).

Having read both threads with interest, two things remain unclear though;

1. Is it possible for us to play Marseille again?

2. Will we be home or away for the second leg?

Nobody seems able to answer these questions - and I haven’t seen anyone ask.

OK, I'll write slowly for you.
YES we can play Marseille next round.
As a seeded team we play away leg first.
Oh, I get it now, you jest.

Lets get technical. The draw isn't quite 1 from 8.
Atalanta can't play Milan or Roma so 1 from 6 for them. So that makes the odds of us going to Italy a little stronger
Good spot, so really it should mathematically be Lisbon or Italia. Which is why it will be Marseilles
