Our views of what a rivalry means are fundamentally different. I always want to see them lose. You can always unpick various results across the season for it to benefit us, but where we finish is ultimately down to us, not them, just as it is for everyone else.
So, let's say we need to win our last match of the season, and our nearest team fail to win against Palace, you'd still want them to lose ?

Because some of us are fully grown adults who recognise that at the end of the day most of their fans support their local team the same as us? As others have said, love the rivalry but I don't get silly about it outside of match day.. it would help us massively if palace won today so yeah I'd rather they won - doesn't mean I'm actively celebrating any goals they score
And ?
Sure like all clubs there are decent fans supporting their local team. There is also an abnormally large section of them who are spotty black-clad dickheads who delude themselves into thinking they're in the upper tier of the San Siro every other week, and travel round with banners and drums trying to look hard. I don't care who they're playing, seeing them get beat is one of lifes small pleasures.

Its not going to help us "massively" if they beat Chelsea. Its just another result elsewhere along the way in a long, long season. If it came down to a final day thing then maybe, but right now, I just like seeing them get beat. Its ingrained.

Some good points here but relying on the Palace defence to get you the result you want might be a stress you don’t need 😀

Look, we can all contrive various scenarios to fit your argument. If we really needed a favour on the final day then of course, if needs must, unpleasant as it would be. They still dine out on "saving" us a few years ago when they beat Cardiff with a couple of games to go, after we'd Hughton'd our way into trouble.

But we're at the beginning of FEBRUARY with a whole chunk of the season to go. I'm really not overly fussed what the league table looks like at 10pm tonight.

At half time I saw Petr Cech criticising Petrovic's positioning for the Palace goal.

What's happened to Sanchez? Is he injured or just out of favour?

Edit: injured - in partial team training for reconditioning phase.
