Yeah, nice wad of cash but even though we were a top 6 contender for much of last season, only 16 matches televised 😡. Everton, WHU and Chelsea significantly more live broadcasts than us yet at the bottom half of the table - Chelsea, I understand; the Chelsea plastics of the world are a big tv audience; but Everton and WHU when we have featured in the written media more than any other season seems a tad disproportionate - I guess all the talk about us playing attractive football that is good to watch only goes so far. Having said that, there are some matches of ours that I wish hadn’t been televised, getting hammered by AV for example and some matches I am relieved weren’t, Luton would be one of those for sure.

NSC: Far too many Saturday 3pm kick-offs are moved for TV coverage, Sky and TNT are killing football.

Also NSC: Why the f*** aren't we televised more often?
I’ve certainly never complained about fixtures being moved as I can’t get to Saturday matches anyway - I actually benefit from them being moved!

So yes, why the f** aren’t we televised more often indeed 😂

And it is perfectly legitimate to complain that the big 6 Clubs have in recent years tried to get even more (international tv) income directed to themselves. No one could possibly argue there is a fair distribution of wealth in League football or even enough distribution to open up the competition for smaller clubs to compete against the big 6/7 for silverware (ie Europa/League/Champions.)

@El Presidente since you're in this thread could you answer a question - do clubs pay VAT or capital gains tax on profit earnt from transfers? For example if Cucurella was bought for £10m and sold for £60m how much of the £50m profit is banked?

There’s no capital gains tax paid directly by companies, but if a club sells an asset at a profit that is added to trading profits (or in the Albion’s case losses) to determine overall profits chargeable to corporation tax. Some losses made in previous years can be carried forward and offset against the losses too

Player transfers are subject to VAT under the normal rules.

Transfers within the EU are subject to the reverse charge mechanism (effectively buyer pays in their own country). Transfers outside the EU are exempt.
