Downing (property developers) have bought Bennett’s Field so the student accommodation will definitely be going ahead.
Where did you see this. Such a surprise. A one of piece of land immediatly adjacent to Amex. Always thought it must be worth more to the club than a developer. Especially with our huge increase in income in last 2 years.

Given the quality of the upsurge of students let into UK universities for Full Fees, despite minimal English (the test is too lax) there will be a mass influx of wealthy Chinese students incoming, with little chance of passing their exams, so we need to singe an appropriate Chinese player, so we can cheer up the poor buggers before they fail their exams, and monetize this.

This post is only 40% facetious.

I know landowners who sell their land for private student housing blocks in Brighton.

Currently land sold for 220 of these flats, gives the landowner a cheque for £10m.

If the Bennett’s have good advisers, they should be banking £25m.

Right next to the ground Brighton University have a strip of land that is virtually derelict, there is the Hive Bar and a caretakers office and thats it, the rest is empty with no immediate plans to do anything with it, the university are short of cash, if the club bought that land there is more then enough room to build a hotel right next to the West stand and probably offices as well sloping down the hill like the Checkland building.

Also not sure if its possible size wise but the rugby pitch next to the station and just below that land would make a good location for a new ground for the womens team.

I think that is the 'plan' that the club are hoping to come to fruition.
