Interesting. So they don’t have FFP concerns then!?

Has anyone mentioned Craig Mackail-Smith yet?

Decent player but not worth anything like £30m. Offer them £1m and a set of kit and that would be more like it.

Yep, can’t see this happening to be honest.
I agree but I’m a little confused to why Ornstein went hard on this story. He states that negotiations are under way and that Leicester want £30m.

But Rob Dorsett from Sky Sports News implies there are no negotiations and that Leicester want a minimum of £40m….

“Sky Sports News has been told it would take a bid in excess of £40m to bring Leicester to the negotiating table, and the asking price is likely to be further increased because of their inability to replace him with a player of equal calibre so late in the window.”

Who to believe?

The 40 million story to be honest, everyone knows we have money and they are not desperate.
Arsenal will pay that in July, Leicester can’t afford to implode, they have to go up the first time of asking.

I guess the problem with this scenario is if Leicester *HAVE* to bring in a chunk of cash this window for their own FFP concerns...

Per reports, Gunners sporting director Edu is a huge admirer of the player and wants to convince him to instead wait for an Arsenal move.
With the emphasis put on the word ‘wait’, that’s because Arsenal are not in a position to buy the midfielder this month due to Financial Fair Play constraints.
As a result, the Gunners could tell Dewsbury-Hall to sit tight until the summer before making a move to Emirates Stadium, with a transfer at the season’s end also suiting the Foxes far better, who would also not stand in the player’s way if a move to north London presented itself.
The Gunners are likely to be able to offer Champions League football next season, which would be a serious temptation for the player, while Edu has decided he wants to add more goals from his midfield – to which Dewsbury-Hall could be the perfect option.
We aren't likely to stand up in any 'fight' with Arsenal.... they will whisper a telephone number salary package in his agents ear,..... that will be the end of that.

I would have said that £30m feels cheap for a proven Premier League midfielder, at a decent age, with a long contract still in place, but the market has clearly shifted somewhat due to PSR/FFP.

If a club absolutely needs to bring cash in to help their own position, and there are few potential buyers able to act, then otherwise highly-valued players may be available for "bargain prices".

Shame. Was staggered the suggested price was 30. This feels much more like the actual situation.

So after all that, there’s a chance it was complete nonsense and the chief Athletic guy may have got it completely wrong? The transfer window eh…

Sorry, if I'm jumping the queue, but I don't know that I will be around for my allotted time, so I'm posting it now...

I don't think we have ever had a player with a double barrelled surname so I think this rumour is nonsense.

200+ comments and I can't believe no-one has mentioned Craig Mackail-Smith.

If I had remembered he played for us, he would be first on my double-barrelled team-sheet.
