Hi All. I'm finding it harder and harder to get about now, getting into and out of bed is a challenge and I've found myself spending a long period of time watching YouTube videos on my phone. I've got a decent sized screen but it was suggested to me I should get a tablet but I don't know anything about them really. All I want it for is YouTube, maybe other apps like Prime and it would be useful for banking apps and things like that rather than getting over to the computer.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions which may follow, I'm hoping to spend less than £200 if I can get a good one for that sort of money? If I can't then I'll need to give it a lot of thought.

Sorry to hear about your limited mobility – that's shite. I'm not the most technically minded, but if you've got a smart TV, you can use YouTube on there or, failing that, stream the phone to the TV.

As for tablets, I can't say I use them, But I'm guessing you could get one these days for under £200. I would search for one, but I don't want to be plagued by ads for tablets for the next few months!

Sounds like you might need a Chromebook rather than a tablet. You can pick these up for less that £200 from Currys, John Lewis, etc.

Sorry to hear you're struggling with your mobility.

Is your preference to watch them on a device? Samsung phones let you cast to a samsung TV for example.

If you do go for a sub £300 tablet make sure the manufacturer is committing to update to the latest android platform otherwise they become very slow after a couple of years. I would steer clear of used tablets for this reason.

I got my daughter a Samsung Tab S6 lite which is very good for watching videos, browsing the internet ect. It cost £250 and has a later operating system which will be updated for at least a few years. I'm not sure you would notice the high screen resolution and processing speed you get on a more expensive tablet.

I personally loathe Jeff Bezos’s evil empire, but from the sounds of it the Amazon Fire tablets would meet your needs perfectly. Various screen sizes, in your price range, and if you ignore the ethical horror of making Bezos any richer, as good as any other Android tablet.

I’m sure Bozza can provide you with a link that benefits NSC as you purchase it too.

for youtube and Prime, Amazon Fire Tablets would be the place to start.

This is S6 lite from John Lewis, they have great after service is anything goes wrong. I think it's the 2022 model

This one is a good basic one from Currys but it operates on Android 11, I suspect you'd get two years out of it before it become very sluggish. It's 2019 model.

Thank you all for your recommendations and it will surprise nobody I've messaged Brok to take him up on his very kind offer and I'll make a donation to a charity of their choice in lieu of paying them for it.

I try and avoid watching the TV because I'm a fair distance from it and I'd have to turn up the volume louder than I'd want it to be so I could comfortably hear it. I don't want to upset the neighbours! Having a bigger screen on something to watch in bed would be really useful for me, thank you all for your suggestions.

Sunds like Bluetooth earphones / headphones would be a gamechanger then chap.
Pretty sure following that amazing offer from @Brok that it would be fully compatible.

I really appreciated the links that you shared, they were exactly the sort of thing I was looking for and likely would have led to a purchase but for Brok's incredible kindness.
My pleasure, I'm by no means an expert but I did a lot of research when my daughter begged me for one for her birthday. I played with a lenovo one in curry's and it was great. Hope it brings you as much joy as it does my daughter, though I suspect you wont be using it to play toco boco and drawing Disney pictures ;-)

Agree with the Amazon Fire recommendations. Have one the 8" for YouTube, sport if the the TV is taken and bit of shopping and banking. And don't bother paying for the advertless thing.
