"All be it different charges, but Swindon Town, it's staff, players, management and fans were shafted by the football authorities in 1990 over 36 charges, THIRTY SIX ! Let's see how they deal with the 100 plus alleged charges that are alleged against Man City, Martin"
And remind us what the penalty handed down to Swindon was?

Man City's statement in response to this reads as argumentative and sarcastic. Basically seems annoyed to have these charges brought to them. Probably not the best way to engage on these matters.

It's true that the game has been utterly ruined by money, rank commercialism, voodoo economics... Living in Northumberland I've seen first-hand how the Newcastle support, so embittered by Ashley, embraced their savours and shook their bloody hands without a ever making eye contact or glancing down... I see it in their eyes however, you know, the look of a person who sheepishly knows that something just doesn't feel right or true...

Alas, right and true are are words I no longer associate with the game, and as others have said I suspect this 'drama' will amount to little if any tangible punishment or disincentive for others to do exactly the same.

It's a bit shit really.

We need a salary cap and transfer fee cap NOW. Money is destroying football.

The very same Guardian sports section which broke this news had a headline ‘Brighton victims of their own success’. In other words, even the supposedly ‘enlightened’ football world thinks it is ‘inevitable’ that we will be ‘forced’ to sell our best players even though we don’t need the money.

After the worst of times, we are now enjoying the best of times, and the whole world is telling us it won’t last, even though we’re groundbreaking, clever and have a brilliant recruitment strategy, because ‘money says no.’

I don’t think that’s true. I think we’re cleverer than money. But if it is the case, as the crowing, entitled plastics constantly repeat, then what the hell’s the point?

Following your team through thick and thin is one thing. That’s sport. But when money trumps skill, cleverness and innovation, and sets up a glass ceiling applauded and encouraged by the mainstream media, it’s no longer sport, it’s business.

And I'm Brighton till I die, not business till I die.

Or the FA etc could just enforce the rules in place.

The charges will probably be dropped as Man City can afford the best solicitors/lawyers in the world to fight its case.

The Premier League will not be able to afford to go to court unless the bottom 13 PL clubs, clubs below them and all fans against the super league/financial doping/cheating unite to create crowd funding.

Let’s face it, that’s the mega rich Middle Easten approach. Qatar was the same. As far as they’re concerned, the world runs to their rules. The sad thing is, once they’ve got the lawyers involved and greased a few palms, it normally does.

If a club having a spiv owner who the fans detest due to lack of investment is like a bat signal to dodgy states looking to sportswash, you'd imagine Crystal Palace must be high on someone's shopping list.

A big envelope of cash has just arrived at FA headquarters. Post mark on the envelope - Manchester.

We all know they'll buy their way out of trouble.

Absolutely. That and a huge fine, a transfer embargo and a ban on European competitions. These bans will last until Man City's lawyers get them overturned - which will be about a week after they're implemented. And they'll get the fine repaid. And the points re-instated. With a bonus in both cases to make up for the fact that City's good name has been besmirched.
Call me a cynic, but this is exactly what I expect to see happen. A lot of noise will be made, but Man City will wriggle out of it with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. It'll be a travesty. The EPL won't properly sanction their cash cows.

Unless there is an alternative ground ready for them to move into, I'm not so sure...

If Everton stay up though, that's an attractive proposition for a mega-state.

BlueMoon is fun, those worried, those saying it's the owner's fault, those excusing everything and blaming it on conspiracy. Yehy're turning themselves inside out 224 pages with a new 2/3 every minute. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Me too.
It's like getting caught stealing £1000, getting fined £50 but don't have to pay the grand back.
