[Albion] Billy Gilmour

Christ, people are guilty of giving GP way too much credit... there was no long term cloak and dagger negotiation, no player sweetener’s, it’s far, far simpler:

Graham’s mobile rang, a voice said 10 million... Graham was already en-route to London before they could utter another word. No thought for Billy, no thought for anything or anyone other than himself.

As for wee Billy, I have no doubt he joined to work with GP - he said as much when he joined, emphasising it two or three times in his first interview... it’s little wonder he’s demotivated and disillusioned... some cope well with change, but the circumstances for Gilmour are hideous given where GP buggered off to.

Billy was in the Amex superstore this morning loading up a big bag of Albion merch, so hopefully that means he's sticking around.

Glorious Shoreham by Sea
Sarmiento with Lallana playing deeper.
MacAllister surprise return (unlikely)
Andrew Crofts return……

I think Gilmour doesn’t start then he’s going out on loan….. Would seem the obvious replacement

I thought I read somewhere that AL got injured celebrating March's goal doing a kneeslide. Don't know how true this is.

I hope Gilmour starts, he seems like a smashing lad with so much ability. He ran the game in the Carabao Cup, albeit against a weaker side. It's been a tough time for him in terms of game time, I imagine we sold it to him when he signed him that we give youngsters an opportunity - and we do, he's just been unfortune with the change of coach.

He will get his chance. We won't hold on to MacAlister for much longer, the same can be said for Caicedo. Isn't Lallana out of contract in the summer too?

Thought he had a good game yesterday.
Yesterday according to sofascore.com in 57 minutes he attempted 5 ground duels and won zero.

Caicedo, in 33 minutes, attempted 6, winning 4.

Perhaps it's just a confidence thing, but it's just not happening for Billy at present.

I felt like he didnt have a bad game, but also without Mac/Caicedo in the middle the team are forced to play in a different manner. All the attacks were us playing the ball out wide, rather than mixing it up with quick passing moves through the middle which Mac & Caicedo do so well. It was like watching a game from last season. Maybe thats because of Billy's lack of minutes in order to get used to that style, maybe he just isnt up to do doing that, or maybe Bournemouth stifled that part of our play.

Tough game for both him and Undav, neither has had much game time and we always struggle against teams like Bournemouth. Plenty of regular players were below par with their passing and movement.

We were so slow attacking at times I thought I was watching Potter at the Amexball.
