He wants to play. We know that. He left Chelsea to join us because of it. He's chosen Ghana because of it. No surprise if he moves on. He's clearly a rarity in modern football, just wants to play first team football.
Shame as others had said, he was great last week and can definitely contribute.
This is 100% correct in my opinion. And while I’d love him to stay, hard to argue with

It seems like a lifetime ago when we thought Chelsea were mugs for favouring Reece James over him. On this occasion, they called it right.

At SJP that time he appeared unplayable.

I wonder if he can justify an EPL starting place again?
James, Lamptey, Livramento - an impressive production line of RB’s from Chelsea but all of their young careers being blighted by injury.

Re starting place Not with the defending like he did against Arsenal.
When we were kicking around in the bottom half of the table he looked like a superstar because we didn’t have anyone with that pace, now we have better players like Mitoma, Pervis, Caceido etc and are competing in the top half of the table you need more to your game and it’s noticeable when players under perform. Saying that he did more than March managed against Leicester and actually thought he would have suited that game from the start.

If they want a Lamptey loan, they must do us a good deal on our Trossard replacement.

This guy would be class.

The injury removed the explosive pace and without that he is ‘average’ and in defensive terms quite small.

It is slightly concerning with the Gilmour rumours a couple of months back how players want away either not willing to fight for a place, or don’t feel they’ve got a chance
Concerning?

Both came here from Chelsea to get minutes on the pitch. The issue being that we’re currently better than Chelsea.

Both are squad players here now and squad players either accept their lot or look to move.

I think some of the people saying he's always been overrated or never worth £50m forget how good he was in lockdown. He was like nothing you've ever seen when he broke into the team in 2020, the end of the season and beginning of the next one. Defenders couldn't get near him, he was laying on chances on a plate and his defending was top class.

He's nothing like that now. At best, maybe one attack a game where he looks pretty quick

Would be extremely disappointed if we let him go without a replacement lined up. He’s not the player he was but he can still make an impact on games.
We do need a squad. Perhaps he is not a player content to be a bit part player , at his age… If he is really unhappy he has to be let go, but it is a pity…after such promiise

Agree. He was on an entirely different level compared to everyone else. No one could deal with him really.

Not the best video to show his flair but shows how defensively solid he was as well:

All the players still say he’s the fastest in the team so not sure he’s lost his pace…

May just be a case of a new broom, but it seems all is not totally sweetness and light on the squad. Something to be concerned about?
I don't think there is anything to worry about. Lamptey is clearly still doing everything required of him in training and isn't doing a Trossard or he wouldn't be making the match day squad. It's a competitive squad, you could make an argument for a majority of those not starting be playing more but Lamptey has still started 3 of the last 7 games we've played and come on as a sub in the other 4.
