Wok 4 you has closed permanently? !! what! that's the one we use....
According to the recorded message when you ring to place an order. There was a day last week where myself and Mrs WS had a really crap day and couldn't be bothered to cook. Imagine how disappointed we were when we rang ! All is not lost though as there is a sign up saying under new management - hopefully they'll open soon and be just as good.

There is a superb Japanese restaurant called Bincho Yakatori down there, if you are lucky enough to get a booking. The Pork Belly and Chicken Skin are divine.
I was also told there was an authentic Chinese place too, down at the bottom end, (away from Western Road), with dishes like chicken feet on the menu, which attracts the local Chinese community in droves.

Sounds like my kind of place, with so much Chinese food in this country being Westernised, to appeal more to the average Brits taste buds.

Li's Sizzling House in Rottingdean is excellent, and reasonably priced. We got fed up with the really gloopy, stodgy food we got from our other local, so tried Li's on recommendation, & not been back to another Chinese takeout since. They also have a restaurant area to eat in.

Since the fantastic Cheung's on Queens Road shut about 30 years ago, I haven't been able to find any Chinese that comes close.

Haven't been to Gars for a while so have to try it.

My mate used to go shooting foxes at night and used to drop a few of the kills at a Chinese restaurant / take away.

I wouldn't touch Chinese if you paid me to do so.

Enjoy .

I have this conversation quite a bit, I’m convinced Chinese food tasted way better in the 80’s compared to today. I used to love a Chinese as a kid for a birthday treat.

West is BEST
Gars isn’t bad at all. Had many a nice meal in there but for me it’s China Garden on Preston Street. Their lunchtime Dim Sum menu is very good indeed.
It’s just a step above. In my opinion anyway.

I’m a fan of thai and Vietnamese more these days, far healthier and more nutritious. Most in typical Chinese is sugary.

reckon thats because in the 80's Chinese was a bit exotic.
