Albion sign 'one for the future'. I've got high hopes for this kid...

Brighton have completed the signing of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister from Argentinos Juniors on a four-and-half-year deal.

The 20-year-old will spend the rest of the season with the Argentine side before linking up with the Seagulls in the summer.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said: "Alexis is an exciting young player that we have brought in for the future, and he has already made a big impact playing in Argentina.

"It is in the best interests of all three parties to allow him to return to Juniors, as he will be able to continue playing regular first-team football in a very competitive league.

"We will keep a close eye on his development over the coming months, and it is a pleasure to welcome him to the football club."

Mac Allister, who plays in central midfield, has scored eight goals in 58 games for Argentinos Juniors.

His current side are second bottom of the Argentine Primera Division after 15 matches.

Not sure if he'll be able to cut it in the Premier League
Bet he doesn't ever get to play for Argentina either

The Macca thread has some funny quotes in hindsight.

“Looks like a good prospect, reminds me of Christian Eriksen. Does this make it more likely Gross will be off in 2019?

Ha ha ha. No.

Completely forgot he was signed under Hughton’s tenure. Not that he would’ve had much input on the signing, if any.

This. The signing of this guy is symptomatic of our recruitment team's failings; attempting to build some kind of pie-in-the-sky future dynasty while failing to focus on priority signings required to maintain our current status.
I picked a page out at random half-expecting to find an amusing comment, didn’t think I’d land on one this good :lolol:

Well aren't you the clevor trever

January 2019 eh? Hurtling down the table, 3 wins in 23, on the way towards finishing 17th, one point and a bit of goal difference away from being dumped out of the EPL. Gave Bloom the fright of his life, and marked the end for Hughton. Yup, what a time it was to be a happy-clapper :lolol:

So you've changed your mind on the recruitment team then ?

And amusing it certainly is, with the benefit of a whole heap of hindsight.

But that was the season that we were literally one game from relegation and signing dross like Locadia and Jahanbaksh. We needed Palace (of all teams) to do us a favour at Cardiff (of all teams) to stay up. And, the Butterfly Effect suggests that had we gone down, there's a good chance Mac Allister would never have been in the 2022 World Cup.

And we DO need experienced, right here, right now players to succeed. Do you think Mac and Caicedo would be so good without the guiding hands of Lallana, Welbeck and Veltman? It's a balance.

Exactly the same thing with the Potter debate. People are now once again starting to smell the BS. No doubt someone will bounce those posts when he's finally successful, but he'll only be so after they've paid over the odds for every good, young player in Europe. Once that's complete, Swansman could probably manage them to a trophy.

Where THPP is completely wrong is in his "stop fannying around at the back" comments. That's literally our strategy and why we're scoring so many goals. You won't need revisionism or hindsight for that comment. It's working now and if people suss an answer to it we'll come up with something else.

Happy-clapper? What’s that go do with anything?

I stumbled across a post of yours that was funny because of its short-sightedness and thought others would also find it amusing.

Just embrace it, it seems to be part of your NSC persona.

Funny how those who are the most prone to put some idiotic nonsense kneejerk bollocks on the board are also the ones most sensitive about people pointing out that they've put some idiotic nonsense kneejerk bollocks on the board. Perhaps the solution isn't to call out peoples "hindsight" (if it can be called that when people called out their bullshit from minute one) but to stop posting the nonsense kneejerk bollocks.

No you're quite right. I'm sure if I spend 15 mins trawling through that thread I'll see comments from Jimmy Grimble telling everyone Mac Allister would win a World Cup and take Brighton to 6th in the table.

Not from you though. You couldn't find Brighton on a map when that was being written.
