Albeit a long long time ago.
Yes

I used to have a book which had every league table since the start of football. Arsenal were relegated as Woolwich Arsenal and promoted as Arsenal even though they finished outside the promotion places. Won a few ££ over the years on this.

This is a club stupid enough to employ Lampard so Gerrard must surely be a shoe-in.
Tbh is sounds like a genuine security concern if they appoint Gerrard. Sure, Lampard is one thing... but Gerrard is a Liverpool legend. If he oversees them going down to the Championship there could be riots or something.

Gerrard was an Everton fan as a kid.

As an aside, I read that the new stadium is now overbudget and they will need to secure more funding. What odds for this not being finished?
Half build stadium, we’ll in the championship they’ll only need half of it anyway

The Gerrard thing is obviously mischief-making bollocks, its too hilarious to be true. They would burn down Goodison before he took a single game.

Hope they go and talk to Bielsa.

When Swansea wanted him as manager, he made them take a two and half day journey to his house in rural Argentina where he spent eight hours telling them how shit all their players were before ending the meeting by telling them there was no chance he'd take the job.

Doubt it would be any different with Everton.
Yet he accepted the Leeds job. Bizarre

I thought fans touting RDZ as next Everton manager were deluded but I've now seen someone suggest Marcelo Gallardo. Why not throw Guardiola into the mix?

To be fair, he got them promoted and lasted a few years there, so it's hard to argue that wasn't the right decision.
Great appointment, point was made that he slagged off the Swansea squad as a reason for not joining, if that post was accurate. The Leeds squad was weak too yet he accepted that

Well presumably he thought it would work.
I assume this was around the time Potter was appointed Swansea manager and people were generally complementary about the job he did there finishing 10th, so I'd guess Bielsa had a point about the squad being shit.

According to the BBC Gossip section this morning, Football Insider say "Brentford have rejected an approach from Everton for manager Thomas Frank".

If that is the case (and I seriously doubt it), what makes them think the he would want to leave the stability of Brentform for a basket case like Everton?

It's the arrogance of once upon a time successful 'clubs like Everton'. If Potter was still here, they'd probably think they could get him. Like when Villa fans used to think they could easily get him.

Talk of Bielsa just shows what a basket case that club is. There is no plan in the boardroom, they just sway from finding that one manager doesn't work to appointing another completely different one that would want hugely different playing staff. In thier current situation Sean Dyche is the only option they should be chasing. They showed against City that they can work hard and defend. That's what they'll need to do if they are going to avoid relegation. Lampard knew that deep down, but wasn't courageous enough to stick with it from game to game because he shared the fanbase's big club mentality. When you're struggling, the expansive football goes out of the window. You get the points you need however you can. He was happy to do that against City away, but seemed to think it beneath them to try it against us at home.

Chris Hughton didn't care that we went to Wolves and never went over the halfway line. He got enough points to stop us going down, in whatever way necessary. It wasn't palatable and it didn't save his job, but it saved us. We wouldn't be where we are now if he hadn't done it. Bielsa would go purist expansive football whatever the consequences. Results wouldn't alter his course. They would probably then sack him and appoint someone totally unsuitable for a Championship promotion campaign.
