From the BBC tonight:

"Oliver Norwood goes into the book for a reckless challenge on Aaron Connolly.
This comes after Tommy Doyle was also booked for a similar late tackle on Connolly.
Sheffield United look to be targeting Connolly this evening."

Looks like our (ex) Ollie is still giving it out! Shame the BBC can't be arsed to show the teams and the match stats from the Blades v. Hul game; there's only two Championship games on tonight - you'd think they'd managed to cover both of them properly!

On the plus side, looks as if young Aaron is causing them a few problems.

Never understood why some hate players wearing gloves... not like having cold hands give ju any kind of advantage

Must admit I always thought gloves, if worn with a short sleeved shirt, looked unbelievably poncey!

He looks like a deep lying playmaker to me. Looks good.

But we seem to be fairly well stocked with in this position as both Mac and Groß play this role alongside Caicedo currently. But you then have Gilmour and Lallana, and in the future, Moder, Alzate and Kozlowski who can slot in next to a midfield destroyer in the double pivot.

Hopefully the club have plans to find back-ups for Caicedo, Estupinian, Colwill and a replacement for Trossard; that’s where our priorities are in my opinion.

On a very different note, it'll be interesting to see if Brighton allows Basel to cancel the Zeqiri loan as was reported in Swiss media last week.

Apparently they were supposed to have a meeting this (last) Monday but seems nothing has been said about it since then.

Zeqiri has been ok for Basel, but when he was brought in he was expected to score 25-30 goals and be their new main man up front, but he's just not quite at that level.

Suspect Zeqiri will have a reasonable career in football - but not with us, or at our level. One to move on, I think, but hopefully should be worth a few quid to someone.

Afternoon off for most of our EFL loanees today due to the totally unexpected cold snap in January! - feet up in front of a nice warm fire, probably!

Anyway - The Championship:
Khadra gets a start for Birmingham; Richards nowhere to be seen at QPR - surely he can't be injured again?
League 1:
Roberts starts at LB for Derby,, everyone else on holibobs.
League 2:
All frrozen out except for Ed Turns, who keeps his place for high flying Leyton Orient - rather to the surprise of some Os fans who thought he would give way to more senior (and larger) pros for the top of the table clash with an apparantly large and physical Stevenage side. He's playing in a CB partnership with another loanee, who is making his debut, which seems a bit of a 'brave' choice (especially as Stevenage have taken the lead after 6 minutes!)

Edit: 2-0 to Stevenage now!

Well I do it running all the time (as do many others). Bloody fingers get painfully cold, while I’m otherwise sweating like a pig.

Kjell Scherpen started for Vitesse... made some good saves in the first half (also saved a penalty), before letting in a very simple goal (which lost them the game) and later getting sent off. Bloke is not mr reliable.

Kozlowski missed the game due to injury but no biggie apparently and should be back soon.

Steven Alzate is playing later today, he's a starter every week now and doing well in Standard Liege.

Others keep track of Adingra.

Bundesliga 2 not restarted after the winter break yet but will be back next week, hopefully with Karbo keeping up his good form.

Abdallah Sima played 90 minutes yesterday in the French Cup, helping his team to the quarter final as his Angers beat some 6th division club with 1-0 in the round of 32. Appears he played in a slightly new role behind another striker.

The Swiss league is restarting later today with FC Basel playing against St Gallen. Will be interesting to see if Zeqiri is the matchday squad as Basel appears to want to send him home.

Zeqiri might well be a very good fit at Coventry if Gyökeres is sold this month and if he is in need of a new club.

I’ve a feeling that both the midlanders and ourselves will do well from Viktor heading to the EPL.

Coventry might also be interested in Sima I suppose. They are interested in players who have EPL potential, we’re interested in players who have top six potential. If they can develop and flog our cast-offs with us receiving a big cut of the subsequent transfer, we could be passing them over players for a long time.

Roberts and Weir both start in League 1 tonight - Roberts away in a localish clash with Port Vale, Weir's Morecambe already one down at Christian Walton's Ipswich.
In league 2, Tolaj on the bench again - might as well bring him back for all the good his loan at Salford is doing.

Its disappointing how poorly Tolaj's loan spells have gone. He always looked excellent in U21s, I had hopes that he would be able to reach at least Championship standard, but right now it looks more likely that we'll have to cut our losses and he'll be back off to Switzerland come the end of his contract.
