Interesting thought - to deter January offers? What would be the logic otherwise in a PR campaign that showed Tross up for a spoiled, difficult brat to work with? Doesn’t do much for the window dressing.

I did on every earlier post with repeated links to Atletico - can’t help if people don’t read my posts (but do understand fully why they don’t 😂) and my understanding is that ‘Madrid’ usually assumes ‘Atletico’, the other Madrid club is usually referred to as ‘Real Madrid’.

Re the former - damage limitation?

Presumably because these source of stories date from October when Atletico expressed an interest - the extension clause had not yet been triggered afaia - it was in December. (Thus, they were hoping to get a free transfer and the +1 was not active) There are more recent rumours (literally rumours) that another offer was turned down in recent days from Madrid but this latest effort (if true) wouldn’t have been for a free transfer, since Tross’s contract runs til Summer 24.

Doesn't matter if triggered or not, the 'sources' make no mention of it.

100 premier league starts. 25 goals. Probably hit the woodwork a dozen times as well.

Every chance that when he retires his favourite memory from his career is going to be the hatrick playing for the Albion at Anfield .... as opposed to an FA cup losers medal at Spurs or being on the bench for a Europa league final at Athletico Madrid ... or some such.

All the best ... Don't let the door bit you on the way out.

It's been reported in a few places that we have exercised it, and I believe we would have needed to before January as otherwise he would have been able to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs abroad.
Then all this shit is no coincidence is it...... stops playing, stops training hard, gets rightly dropped, feigns calf issue, walks out and then gets agent to try and make him out as the victim and say he needs to leave immediately.

It seems blindingly obvious, the club has excersiced its contractual option and Trossard has had a hissy fit.

Just do what Palace did with the diving cheat, slap a massively high valuation on him right now, that rules out penny pincher Daniel Levy, and will let him go only if someone pays top dollar, otherwise he's going nowhere.

If hes allowed to walk now after this, the next person who has contract extended and fancies out will try the same. If Club is firm, they may not

Trust Bloom to make this very uncomfortable for Trossard and his agent, I suggest they’ve picked a fight with the wrong club.

Just another spin on this - it's obvious from RDZ's press conference that his comments are not normally the norm for our club, let alone most clubs. But if this has been going on for weeks, TB has probably sanctioned those comments (I doubt RDZ would do it off the cuff) so it was most definitely stage managed to get the first shot in before Trossard and his team get in first.

It appears that our PR team are much better than Trossard's - you only have to read their statement to realise that.

What I do think is this is all part of another TB strategy and he is rarely wrong from previous experience - like all things, trust the process and the management team.
I read online that Trossards agent is a mate of his who’s background is painting and decorating

I suspect this a bit of a personality clash. I think RDZ is quite a fiery character (not in a bad way) and Trossard has never been shy about his ambitions. Obviously I have no knowledge of the ins and and outs of what’s gone on, but it sounds like it’s time for Trossard to move on if a resolution can’t be found. Personally, I’ve never been his biggest fan (too many touches, slows the game down) but will admit on his day he is superb. I also like that RDZ won’t be messed around. If he’s here for the long term, then having a squad that buy into him and his methods seems a very good plan.

Very in-brightonish to air dirty laundry in public though. I thought everything was undisclosed these days…

Whilst I go along with RDZ there is a danger that his lack of knowledge of the intricacies of the English language may occasionally lead to a shitfest. Personally I quite enjoy the excitement!
When a business is really well run, mistakes, leaks and misinterpretations never happen 'by accident'. And everyone in football knows how well Brighton is run.

As has been stated in many a movie, and as Leo's agent is learning, but not quickly enough 'It's like going to a gunfight with a knife'

Interesting situation. In many ways his departure would be like Maupay's: you can trace many of our points to goals of his, but he won't be particularly missed as long as the squad remains largely free of injuries and continues to develop.
Well done to RDZ for setting the standards high for playing for the Albion.

Personally I think the club got wind of the likelihood of this happening a while back given the snideyness of Trossard's agent, and briefed De Zerbi accordingly. I suspect De Zerbi anticipated how Trossard might react post WC but gave him a chance anyway and we all saw how he played in those games. The club and De Zerbi got ahead of the situation and told it like it was and now Trossards agent is playing catch-up and trying to paint his client in a more favourable light to engineer a move away. Pretty standard tactics from the agent who are all looking for their next payday. I think the club and De Zerbi are handling this perfectly, we will get what he's worth and that'll be the end of it. I'm not fussed if he stays or goes since we have Mitoma, Sarmiento and no doubt adequate plans in place for a replacement.

Trust in Tony and Bob.

Maybe we should always have known it was going to end like this with Trossard, wasn’t there a quote from him when he joined saying that we were a stepping stone?
Here it is. We should have known this was going to happen. What a wonderful agent!:

£30m to get rid to Spurs, Newcastle or anyone in Europe who wants him, £50m+ add ons if it's Chelsea and he wants to sit on the bench with Cucurella and do yoga in training with Potter. Tony Bloom's got this.
We got £30m for Bissouma, who is a couple of years younger, was in a similar contract situation, was performing well and not kicking up a stink.

I think 20-25m is more likely.

I’m not convinced Trossard has the mentality to play for a top club, maybe harsh but for me he’s far too inconsistent, on his day he’s class but a top club demands those days every game, as other players are finding out.

As an aside point, what the hell does ‘training alone’ even mean? I’ve always wondered what that means, I just imagine a bratty child over in the corner of the TG playing wall ball by himself:lolol:

Agree, at worse c2001 after having a shitty week at work I stormed off to Blackpool for the weekend but didn’t make a statement about it until now 🚨exclusive🚨
