They've signed some Brazilian philosopher who is supposed to be very good.
and will probably end up being as useful as this guy....

Enzo deal collapsing. Chelsea’s actual bid was 85m euro which is more realistic (mac on that basis is 70ish).
Sky Sports reporting that Chelsea have offered Benfica £75M (=€85M?) plus 3(three) players for Enzo Fernandez:

Hakim Ziyech,
Datro Fofana - who they've just signed and surely didn't tell him "and we're sending you on loan straight away"... ...surely?, and
(Great Aunt) Audrey Santos - who they haven't even signed yet...

:lolol:

BBC reporting we amongst the clubs looking at Alex Scott, Bristol City midfielder. Stumbling block asking price of £12 million supposedly but that's an absolute steal (Bristol native). Real talent. Weirdly, the Brighton player he reminds me of most is Pascal Gross.

The Brazilian philosopher had a very lively cameo for Forest. Looks like he's going to be a real asset. Lovely passer.

Thanks for the update. I started going to RB Salzburg games this season and he's always played full back. Didn't realise he had also played CB. Pavlovic is my favourtie player - owned Salah in the pre-season frienly against Liverpool!
Is Junior Adamu as good as he appears? He's very much the type of player I hope we're looking at

She's good but she is 38 now.

six feet beneath the moon...
benfica head coach has now come out criticising them for attempting to unsettle fernandez

think when dealing with us cucurella's head was already turned, and GP didn't take much persuasion once we'd granted them permission to talk to him, but worth noting because if they come back for anyone else we need to expect this kind of scummy, underhand tactic if they don't offer us what we want

To be fair the players been a dick since the World Cup. He stayed in Argentina on NYE despite not having permission from the club - no idea if that was to do with Chelsea or not

It's actually very similar to Cucurella but Chelsea are Man City in this situation. There is a price that Benfica are willing to part with Enzo for, Chelsea won't pay it (or at least, won't pay it upfront), other clubs will.

So it seems Chelsea do take an appropriate / proportionate amount of time to complete transfers. How interesting, I thought they were uniquely fast, 48 hours fast even….

Which other clubs ?

Didn’t we do the same when we bought Cucurella? He had a release clause, but we paid a few Million under it after all

We engaged in a negotiation, and then paid the release clause, no? I don't think we said we were going to pay the release and then tried to negotiate a lower fee after.

If Chelsea don't get him this January, I think there might be two newly very rich clubs in the North West who want him in the summer amongst many many others. That release clause isn't going to change unless he signs a new contract.

No we paid the release clause.

The negotiation was that releases clauses have to be paid in full at time of transfer, we were trying to stage payments over a couple of years. Eventually we just paid up I believe.

If chelsea keep just splashing the cash Potter can't fail can he?
Be amazed if at the end of the day he can't get a tune out of them.

Apparently that's what Bohehly did in America, just paid any amount it takes to be successful.
Problem is that it takes years even if they spend money and spend it well. Just splashing the cash is helpful but to actually reach somewhere you have to do it sensibly, like Newcastle, Arsenal or (maybe, judge is still out) United have done recently/very recently. If they fail with their transfers in this window.

According to their deal, the Chelsea investors are not allowed to take out a profit from the club for 10 years. They want to spend a shiteload now so that they can build some sort of dynasty where they won't have to invest as much later due to having a safe ground to stand on.

Whether GP survives the season... 50/50. If they finish top 6 (top 4 probably too difficult) I think he'll stay, and I think that would give him a pre-season and he'll be in Chelsea for many years. If it doesnt go better after the transfer window, GP is gone by June.
