That’s because the Albion play in the Premier League. Basically it was easier to get to away matches and POTG when we were shit. Pretty much the same anywhere.

Cold, alcoholic, one sided, noisy and jolly good fun. I don't think many Worthing fans enjoyed it though.
I disagree. For me it’s not about a flare or swearing. I had some over-excited lairy teenage bellends in front of me at Everton a few years back. They were also standing, squeezed into, an area which had yellow hatches on it; ie shouldn’t have been there. Total cocks who did affect my enjoyment of the day. If we can get shot of morons like this all the better.

The best assistance that can be given is to clampdown hard (after being warned) on those abusing the system.

Here is my story.
Myself and my eldest son are in the top tier for Loyalty points and after a lot of faffing about decided to do Wolves away and bought our tickets when they were on sale to all Albion Plus Members.
My son lives in Sutton so because of the train strike on the day he couldn't get to Wolves so I gave his ticket to his younger brother who is an Albion Plus member and lives near to me now.
We drove up to the game from Salisbury and got asked for ID which my lad produced and if course the names didn't match up.
My eldest got an email from the club 2 weeks later telling him that he has a ten game ban and deduction of points.
I immediately emailed the club saying explaining the above situation and saying if they check my purchase date they would see it wasn't a case of harvesting points and gave them all our fan numbers and it was me that gave the ticket to my son and not him as I had bought them both.
I had no reply until last week telling me that as I had been honest and was willing to take the blame and had in no way defaced the ticket they would reduce the ban to 5 home games for me and deduct 50 points from me.
I understand the 50 point deduction and have no qualms about that but for giving a ticket to a family member who is an Albion Plus member and also not purchasing the tickets until they were on sale to Albion Plus Members and getting a 5 game ban for that really gets my goat.
It seems the club are quite happy for you to waste money on tickets that can't be used but not happy for you to use them for family members who pay £20.00 a season for this purpose.
Yet they are quite happy to let visiting fans sit amongst the home fans at The Amex.
Greed is good and it seems this is the norm now for Brighton
My love for this club is being rapidly eroded sadly after 45 years of tramping all around the country watching us.

Despite the reduction in the sanctions, It does seem a heavy-handed response from the club. Disappointing, but unsurprising.
I think any sort of punishment is ridiculous. They're going to lose some good, very long term fans over this.
How has this become a thing!!? all 4 members of my house all support the Albion, 3 have season tickets and 2 of us are in the top tier for away game tickets - say for example I buy 2 tickets one for my son and on the day he is ill I cannot let his sister who is also a season ticket holder but doesn't do loads of away game come in his place ? There has to be somewhere and someone we can contact if this happens, train strikes, illness etc etc and change the ticket ? obviously i get it if the game had sold out in one of the top tiers and the said member of friends or family doesn't have enough points then that fairly can't happen - being in the top tier I am a supporter of the loyalty system but seems so unfair that if you can afford 1901 this isn't an issue and you can give your away ticket to anyway while they are banning other fans.
Come on The Albion give a proper fan representative that can help out on match days for any genuine ticket issues . we can't go banning fans for things like this

That is utterly ridiculous and you have my sympathy. A five game ban for transferring to a family member rather than having an empty seat is extreme heavy handedness.
Until such time we can refund or transfer away tickets - which isn't unreasonable in this age of strikes - all this will do is lead to empty seats in the away end. Brilliant.

A panel made up of Adrian Morris (Head of Safety & Security), Andrew Kundert (Security Manager), Sarah Gould (Supporter Services Manager) and Millie Crowhurst (Assistant Supporter Services Manager) met to discuss your appeal.
The decision in this instance was that the loyalty point deduction of 50 points would remain, but the home league game ban would reduce to 5 matches. This decision has been made due to the honesty, the reasons for not being able to attend and the fact that the ticket was not defaced or the name forged in any way.
Please could you confirm in writing that you are prepared to take this sanction on in place of your son ? If you do this we will transfer the sanction over to you and reactivate James’ ticket.
You are reminded that during this time any blocked season ticket seat may be listed on the ticket exchange for resale. You are advised to contact the club after the exclusion period has been served and the ticket will be unblocked.

Certainly reads like something that wouldn't have raised an eyebrow last season, and I guess the club are hoping their measures means that wouldn't raise an eyebrow in 12 months time.
I guess Mr Bloom, Barber and Tickets feel if they don't stamp 'illegal' ticket sharing out now, they never will be able too, irrespective of the specifics to each case.

I'm with you all the way on this. I've bought a ticket for the Southampton match and now can't go. There are plenty of people I'd love to give the ticket to who would enjoy Boxing Day watching premiership football but because my name has been scrawled across the ticket it will just have to go in the recycling bin. Its a complete nonsense and as you say erodes my love for a club that I've spent 45 years tramping all round the country watching.
yep annoying as I couldn't go and now I can go but of course its sold out :-( mental scenes in this day and age, anything else like concert it would be fine

The overheads of implementing a refund/transfer facility for ticket holders who are unable to attend could be recovered by a small admin fee.
Fear of abuse is a poor reason for not implementing something of benefit. All sorts of things in life are open to abuse, but that doesn’t mean they should be withdrawn.

Kangaroo court. I doubt any of them are true fans and enjoy their little bit of power. Anyone with any decency would evaluate your situation and deal with it in a reasonable manner. The fact the child you took was of equal standing to your other child and listed as a friend and family I find this incredible.
