Then WTF is he moaning about? It's his son who has done wrong, his son who could be banned, and he's taking the ban for his son (that'll learn him)

I know this guy, loyal Brighton supporter for years and brought his kids up to be as well. His son has done wrong but way OTT punishment for the crime.
According to the thread he won’t be refunded for those tickets either?

That’s how I saw it…..club were crystal clear what the likely sanctions were (whether they are heavy-handed is a diff debate) if people continued to do it, so anyone carrying on doing it has to be pretty stupid - not unreasonable from the club to offer to transfer the penalty to the real offender who was the stupid one.
Yep you've got to be f***ing ridiculous to break a well publicised ruling with a well publicised punishment.

That’s a good point, the dickheadery at away games has swelled enormously of late, fuelled mostly by youngsters where you wonder how on earth so many of them managed to amass so many loyalty points at such a tender age. As I said on a thread a few months ago, when you arrive at a town and see hoards of your fellow fans exiting the train station, and the first thing they bellow in front of bemused kids, families, old folks and Saturday shoppers is “xxxxtown’s a SHIThole, I wanna go ‘ome” - well, it’s a bit …..embarrassing.
Agree with most of that, except blaming the teens. Most are older than that.
I like the way that the new Board links to a tweet so you can read the thread/replies.
Given the circumstances it is surprising that they weren't just refused entry to Molineux. My assumption here is that Wolves did not want to get involved with this, presumably as they did not have reasonable grounds for refusing entry to someone with a valid match ticket, or just didn't want the hassle.
My hope is that this sets the marker for what you can expect for gaming the system, but that this specific case gets dealt with sympathetically on appeal.
It wouldn’t be Wolves - Albion staff are there to do the ticket/ID checks……also seems the lad changed the name on the ticket so was probably obvious anyway.
Guy says in the Twitter thread that his appeal has already been refused. Punishment remains overly harsh IMO, but a few cases like this going public are exactly what the club want - annoying for the chap concerned, but will act as the deterrent.

Not clear from the Twitter thread, but it sounds like his sons are U18. Is it possible for an U18 to buy their own tickets without an adult account and credit/debit card and additional tickets from F&F lists?
The average parent would be fairly livid if their teenager used their CC, or even just his fan number, without permission, and making him face the consequences would be seen as appropriate punishment and a life lesson. Hence the fact that the dad has accepted the ban rather than it being transferred to the son seems odd.

not sure he is moaning about it, sharing on twitter with a shrug.
the punishment is the punishment the club told everyone about. its not practical to change due to potentially dubious circumstances, leaving gapping hole in the policy. time for complaint was when they announced it. something like this was inevitable.

I dunno. You bring up your kids to support the Club. They are at the stage of life when they can't afford or fit a season ticket into their lives so they use the old man's ticket to make their day out better. What is the problem.
I can see why the club would want to know who is attending a game. But also it is a good thing if younger people are following the club. And if that's at away games then so be it. Sometimes it is better to turn a blind eye - the danger is you make a mountain out of a molehill. I know the arguments - arrests/loyalty points etc. It just looks heavy-handed. A sledge hammer to crack a nut. Just because you can do something does not mean you should.

Call me cynical but I don't buy his "I didn't know" story. 2 of his U18s go to a game. It doesn't come up that she's going with? Or she comes around on the day with a scarf? Or it's not mentioned at all since the tickets bought?
And surely he'd get a confirmation email saying that the tickets bought?

The two lads in this case are STHs. The problem is that they used the dad’s fan number to buy a ticket for one of the lad’s girlfriends.

The obvious response would be to go to the next home game impersonating his son, I’m sure the good folk of NSC can assist with the latest street lingo, ya get me?
The problem is that every ejection, last season, was a fan who couldn't buy a ticket so therefore shouldn't have been there in the first place.
Only the purchaser gets an email - not every F&F.

The penalty is harsh for the offence, unless their is more to the story.

Yes. I appreciate that. But now they have penalised someone for taking their girlfriend on a family-owned ticket. What is the problem ? No-one died. Or was even inconvenienced. They presumably had a good day out. I hope so. It all seems rather pointless.
