What hatred? Certainly none on this thread, in fact there's even English people saying they support Wales - as I often do when they're not playing England.
I think the truth is the small nations, knowing they'll never win, make more of a 'thing' about their support (like Scotland and the Tartan Army). They can then use that as a substitute for the actual football. Fair enough, a World Cup is also about the Spectacle, but ultimately people would rather their team won the Cup rather than 'Best Fans' award - which, with the greatest of respect, won't be won by WaIes either. Bucket hats or no bucket hats.

Again, there's no hate for it. One poster on this thread said they looked 'shit and ridiculous', immediately countered by another who said it was their 'preferred choice of headgear'. Everyone else is just chuckling and taking the piss a bit, exactly the same way Brighton fans do when told how marvellous the Palace Ultras are.
I'm not sticking up for English fans btw who can be, and often are, boorish as well as boring with an extremely limited repertoire of songs and chants. But on the other hand the recently-invented 'Red Wall' is not some amazing phenomena either.

The only fans imo who have been outstandingly impressive so far in the tournament are the Argentinians. Absolutely shitloads of them and very impressive noise levels.

Can't imagine there are too many Argentines boycotting the telly either. Don't know if you're actually in BN41 but the Brazilian butchers next to the Foghorn has been rammed for every Brazil game too.
I quite like the bucket hat having had a "Skint" branded one for several years (and not having much hair). I bet they'd swap it for a team that could actually play football, rather than nine bang average journeymen, a much reduced and disinterested Ramsay and Bale who seemed to be some sort of penalty and free kick pinch hitter.
