With FIFA introducing its own armbands at the eleventh hour, it will be interesting to see if Kane still wears his one as planned, and what FIFA do about it if he does. Maybe we will see the England team stage a walkout if he is told to remove it.

I think it’s good that Bryan Swanson announced his homosexuality during that press conference, but the difference for him is that he doesn’t need to mix with the general population while there. He will be completely protected by FIFA.

I still hope that every team just sit down on the whistle and refuse to play. That would send a the strongest message of all. Obviously Qatar wouldn’t, but it would be amazing if everyone else did.

we know full well he will wear the official one and we'll do naff all. i'm only surprised its this late they've thought of a way to avoid these micro protests. its too late to start walk outs and things, FA should have done something by not going. right now the stream of bad news is doing plenty to undo any benefits Qatar thought they'd get, to get worse once the shit football in the heat starts.
FIFA/UEFA are petrified of the clubs doing this.
Anything they say or do (armbands/knee etc) is nothing but virtue signalling.
If they really meant what they are saying, they wouldnt have gone.

An email went round work yesterday, which I deleted without replying to, sent by someone organising a world cup prediction competition. £10 entry, winner takes all - 5 people out of 50+ expressed interest apparently.
I’ve thought more than once that the reason the ESL failed was because it was too small a club. If they could convince the professional leagues as a whole across the major nations then UEFA wouldn’t have a prayer.

Yes, I hadn't really thought of that.
I also work in a Primary School, and usually for a World Cup we have topic learning based around the teams taking part, with each class 'adopting' two or three countries to produce projects about. Each class has had a World Cup Wallchart up, and the kids have always been excited about filling it in after each game. There has always been a real buzz in the school, amongst the children, their parents and the school staff.
This time, from what I have noticed, it hasn't been discussed at all. I haven't heard any children talking about it, and haven't talked about it with other members of staff.
I would normally be really upset about missing England's first game, being at 1pm on Monday when I will be teaching. This time I couldn't care less.

You don't need armbands to make a protest. Wear appropriate t shirts underneath your playing shirts and remove your playing shirts during the national anthems. What are FIFA going to do?
