I think a lot of the room says that going to do some footballing in countries where there's a death penalty for being homosexual is not a good thing and should be avoided.
Embarrassing and totally inappropriate decision by the club.
There are plenty of countries that don't persecute the LGBT+ community. As the OP said club "not reading the room".

Brighton to head to Dubai for training camp in World Cup as Amex works begin
While eight of Brighton's players are heading to the World Cup this week, the rest of the squad will have some time off and then prepare for the resumption of the season next month

Yup. Scandinavian clubs used to go there for pre-season camps as well, until protests from fans stopped them.
Technically it is a good option for clubs - good facilities, and the UAE usually pay (or at least let clubs come for free) to get teams over there. All part of the sportswashing bollocks.

I heard a suggestion that Albion were due to play Bayer Leverkusen in a friendly on or around 17th December, but we cancelled it as soon as beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, giving us a new fixture shortly after that date.
