Sorry if it already features, but The Independent predicted our Qatar World Cup squad back in 2013. It's doing the rounds online and it's hilariously bad.

GK - Jack Butland

RB - Luke Shaw
CB - Nathaniel Chalobah
CB - Phil Jones
RB - Chris Smalling

RM - Jordan Ibe
CM - Ross Barkley
CM - Jack Wilshere
LM - Wilfried Zaha

ST - Chuba Akpom
ST - Daniel Sturrige

Brighton factually.....
Yes but set up for big sides to qualify and will watch from knock out stages. Media will hype it up when we have beaten Wales USA and Iran
I hope we lose to Wales and the USA and don't qualify, I can then get on with enjoying Christmas without the inevitable over excitement of the potential of a final, just get knocked out quick and move on.

Don't give a shit, certainly won't watch any of it.
I certainly wasn't interested in England going (I think we should have said F*** it, we'll have nothing to do with it) but with all our Ecuadorians, plus Mac Argie, Trossard, and possibly Sanchez involved I'm afraid I'm going to.... sorry!

I guess all you with loftier principles than me will just have to watch and keep quiet about it ..................

I'll watch it as well.

If it was held in normal months I would have ignored it because I can have plenty of fun in the summer without watching football.

Sitting in the Swedish cold, dark November-December - preferably refusing to even leave the apartment, while knowing that there's football on TV... not going to be able to resist it.

I will follow the fortunes of all the Albion players involved but certainly won't be watching any of it. I can't find anything to like about the current England team from its coaching staff to the players and holding it in a previously unknown footballing country that paid the most money to the most FIFA delegates stinks to high heaven. Dressing it up as bringing football to the wider Middle Eastern region is crap and everyone knows that. If none of that is enough for you then Qatar's stance on LGBT and human rights ought to get your moral compass tingling enough to give this years WC miss. Its a personal choice, I won't berate anyone for wanting to watch and support it but can't bring myself to do so.

Tricky one.

The whole thing absolutely stinks. Yet I love international sports tournaments more than almost anything in the world.

Whatever

I mean, literally, whatever. I have absolutely no idea what that post is about! Something to do with phones?
:)
a burner is a phone you buy with say $100.00 worth of calls /credit then throw it away when you are finished with it .....fantastic for the environment but also non traceable , unhackable and basically incognito.....good advice as far as im concerned.

I feel a bit sorry for the players here TBH. People attacking them for not taking more of a stand, but it really shouldn’t be up to them. The highly paid suits should have taken a stand on this years ago, but presumably all fancying too much of a jolly at someone else’s expense.
Huh?

You could argue that the Australian suits didn't take a stand so the players have done it for themselves. It might not be much. It might have minimal impact. But they did it.

You really can't excuse our players bottling it because the suits have stayed silent.

The voice of the players carries far more weight than the voice of a suit.

South Africans are football mad as is the continent on the whole , they were always gonna put on a blinder with the exchange rate , the general vibe of the place and everything being cheap and plentiful for travelling fans , the absolute OPPOSITE to this abomination of an event , i can't remember now but i think Australia were also one of the countries that missed out on this particular bid , so you have gone from one of the most free living , liberal minded, inclusive options to one of the most restrictive , drachonian , elitist cultures on the planet with a climate that matched Death Valley and who will demolish the majority of the infrastructure once the tournament is over , in what way does that help the environment , why not convert the facilities to house refugees , displaced people and asylum seekers etc....?? There have to be 10s of thousands of Yemeni's made homeless in the last few years , or do we just accept that they will probably end up in Bognor.??
you remember correctly. Qatar beat Australia, USA, Japan and South Korea to host

Of those Australia should have been a no-brainer really
