There was lots to suggest Ferguson was a rounded player under RDZ. There were numerous articles about how he was being asked to play as a pivot striker, dropping into the 10 role to build up play, for example. I think the issue is he’s fallen off a cliff and none of us seem to know why.

I was going to say, every time I watch him he’s putting himself absolutely in the thick of things. He’s often the trigger point for our press, and often the out ball when we’re struggling to keep hold of it. I don’t personally see him as a 9 and I don’t personally think he’s looked comfortable...

In fairness, I don’t think many are underestimating it. He’s our pivotal attacker. It’s really that simple.

The biggest worry is that someone, somewhere, probably thinks Adingra is his replacement as an starter. And that scares me, as the drop off from one to the other is huge.

Great result. It’s been a really good end of the season, so credit where it’s due. It’s a shame not to get Europe, but we ended on lots of positives.
