Err no, they strengthened the later trains, there were 8 cars on the Seaford and Eastbourne after the game.
It’s only before the game they cannot do anything. Plenty of stock available later.
I did that sort of thing in emergencies for a living before I retired from the railways over 6 years ago.
Left about 5 minutes after the game finished.
Eventually ended up on the 22.35 from Falmer to Lewes, because the staff were totally incompetent when it came to loading 8 car trains. The previous Seaford left with two coaches empty and our one, I was in the second coach, was practically empty...
No point in leaving early, I can’t rely on Southern getting me to Portsmouth to get the FastCat, and I’d end up on the ferry and be dumped several miles out in the middle of nowhere.
So better to plan in advance for the return journey….
Back on the IOW today, no chance getting back the same day, so stopped overnight at a hotel.
Watched the fiasco at Victoria with the 21.37 to Bognor. Got let on with 2 minutes to spare.
Security guy was ranting that we’d have to get the next one…..an hour later!,
Came on last October and unless it’s warm outside, the heat has been on since then.
