Dale Stephens' appeal [Update: appeal rejected, 3 game ban stands]

The FA twitter feed has just announced they've upheld the dismissal of a Millwall player on Sunday. I don't know if the Regulatory Commissions do all their appeals at once.

Dale Stephens' appeal [Update: appeal rejected, 3 game ban stands]

Just found this in the FA's standard procedures for claims of wrongful dismissal: "As a general guide, the following schedule will apply: Match Day....Notice of Claim...Claim Lodged...Commission Fri/Sat/Sun...Monday............... Tuesday...........Thursday" If so, the club had until two hours...

    This Suspension Thing

Well, in this context I was using "debatable" as in "not a clear-cut unarguable sending off" to illustrate that the option of an extra ban probably wouldn't apply.

    This Suspension Thing

I don't think he will. It's a debatable decision that turns on the ref's interpretation of "serious foul play" and "endangering safety". It's not like it's an open-and-shut whacking somebody round the head and they've just appealed to delay the process or whatever.

    Colin Calderwood

You did. The fourth official practically rugby tackled him and dragged him back to the halfway line, and even then he wanted another go, Scrappy Doo style. Hughton told him to go and sit down.

    Atmosphere yesterday at Boro.

There are regular complaints that the PA is turned up specifically to drown out the singing, because the usual announcer (surely the model for Alan Partridge) has his own axe to grind. Actually, I think I read many years ago that there's a system in place that senses crowd noise and adjusts the...

    (Riverside) Mike Dean

Field of vision. If you're standing that close you can't necessarily see everything that's going on "in perspective". Also why linesmen quite often cock up offsides and line calls two yards in front of them.

    Atmosphere yesterday at Boro.

The Red Faction - the group with the drum - is a bit of a legacy of the 13,000 crowds in the Strachan era. They started before that, but low crowds meant they had the space to pretty much pick an area of the ground where they could buy walk-up tickets together and create their pocket of noise...

    George Friend????

Yeah but according to ComeOnBoro the height of technological innovation is a toy helicopter disguised to look like a wasp.

[Albion] How will the Boro game play out?

I was assuming you were trying to keep it within the bounds of realism until I got to that bit.

    Pleasantly surprised

Weird, yep. Dunno about soft. If I have the choice between being applauded by some nice Sussex folk or getting a double wanker sign from a 9-year-old at Leeds I'll take the applause thanks. :D

    Pleasantly surprised

Superb ground you've got yourselves there. Walking round before hand, it felt more permanent than the Riverside, and that's been there for 17 years! Might be something to do with the stonework and the fact it's dug into the hill I suppose. Once inside, it does rather give the impression -...
