I'm currently working up this way too, so depends on what you're looking for.
The Titanic hotel is really nice, but quite pricey and is about 20/25 minute walk into the city centre. If you're looking for a night out, I like the bars on Seal Street - the old fashioneds in Berry and Rye on Berry...

He used to be good, but I think his commentary over the last few seasons has been pretty dire. I remember in one particular airing of Match of the Day, in the lead up to a goal he didn't say anything, but then blurted out "TURNED ON" as they scored. Almost Alan Partridge-esque
